Back in the late 80's possibly early 90's I was invited to a recording studio in Northern California with several other children to do children's back up vocals. I remember it was either Neil Diamond or Neil Young. I was young always confused the two. I knew he was famous but as a preteen he was just an old famous guy. I didn't like the song we did either. If I heard it now, I would remember, but I don't want to go through dozens of songs looking for a song with children's vocals, so can anyone help?

I figured I may be able to help a little. Neil Young was on a Sound City Studios movie by Dave Grohl and I thought he must have recorded most of his music there, but it looks like he had a home in Northern California. Perhaps this is where you did the recordings. I guess if it was anywhere else in California you would have had a city like San Francisco...

In the article it says he made over 20 albums there at the Ranch, and he had a separate building with toy trains and old cars. Anyways hope this helps. A quick google search showed nothing for Neil Diamond in Northern California studios, where this article showed up and matches up.

It was a studio literally in the middle of nowhere attached to a person's home, but most likely north of Sacramento.

The thing I remember most was the horribly tacky decor including Egyptian type decor.

Did the artist have a strange nasal singing voice or did it sound 'normal.' (Don't get me wrong, I love Neil Young, but he has a distinctive/unusual voice.)

Interesting..

Off the top of my head there are kids singing in certain Neil diamond songs but I can't off the top of my head remember any for Neil young. Neil young is basically my dads favorite so I've heard lots of it but I could have missed it.

One song jumps out at me..

Would be funny if I got it right haha but then again it could be Neil young this just came to mind ..

EDIT:

Never mind that song was out in 1970 so recorded maybe 70 or 69 or something oops.

I am sorry I should have been more clear. We never met the artist himself. It was a professional recording studio, where we only heard the instrumental tracks through the headphones. We were told who the artist was and the name of the album we would be on, but that is what I don't remember.

I did professional recording in the past.

I appreciate the info, but that was not it. The recording studio would have been north of Sacramento and was a professional paid gig.

Oh, I see! Welp, I don't really know unless you can think of any of the lyrics. C'mon... relax your mind. Go back, waaay back, you're getting verrrry sleeeeepy...

Thanks for trying. I was just hoping people would suggest songs that had children's vocals in in them from either artist.

well if the reply i posted was actualy the place, it might help narrow it down.
as, if you were really there, you would recognise the location. also the record that was recorded
matches your date.

That is not the location. Not enough gaudy Egyptian decor. It also would have had to be north of Sacramento
