Donald Trump has done the impossible. He has won the Republican nomination WITHOUT the support of conservative media, radio, super pacs, big donors or the establishment.
Nearly every source republicans are supposed to trust was vehemently anti-trump (which I think shows they have lied so much conservatives no longer trust anyone...).

My personal theory (for the passed year) has been that Trump was pulling a dog and poney show for the worst republicans. 5 years ago he was a moderate democrat. He was pro choice, pro amesty, pro single payer, exc, exc, but the second he was serious about running, all those positions flopped. I think he was playing to win. He knew he couldn't beat the left in a primary by out letting them....but he could do it on the right, and get a lot of votes from the left when you pissed off the far right by admitting it was BS. I think trump has the sharpest swing to the center in history. I think he rips Hillary apart on the majority of the issues from the left.

So imho the trump of 5 years ago is the real one. So in reality we are getting a pretty moderate guy.

So republicans have screamed loudly, they do not care about the social issues. They no longer want the grid lock and huge slashs to government, they no longer want a bunch of crazy laws based on their personal moral compass.

Trump (if I'm right) is a moderate liberal that the crazy conservatives CANNOT unite the GOP against. Trump can get stuff done no other mortal man could.

If trump swings hard left and wins the election, then does a fairly good job. It will be the death of the social issue oriented conservative movement and a make America a better place for years to com.....

I think people have and are voting for Trump because they are sick and tired of the same old democrat republican B.S. that always turns out to be the two ends of a single turd.

Trump won the nomination because the Right Wing propaganda had spun out of control and it created a section of the Right Wing that was too extreme, even or the GOP. They felt like the GOP was too far Left and they began to break apart from the party. That is why we have seen a rise in Republicans calling themselves Libertarians.

Trump comes along and fills that extremist void and people cling to it for dear life. They now have what they believe to be a candidate that represents that propaganda-driven, hard Right political view.

I think trump is good for the country.
I don't mean he will be a good or bad president but he will shake up both political parties.

The GOP needs to learn that the people don't want to be governed by a man with a bible in one hand and a list of values in the other.

The Dems need to learn that being politically correct is not the most important thing and raising taxes will not fix everything.

Politicians have not changed with the American people and trump is the result.

Trump is a right leaning moderate. I think he appeals to a lot of middle of the road conservatives like me. I am definitely fiscally conservative, but socially moderate - i couldn't give a crap about gay issues, weed, abortion, etc. I have my opinions on them but don't believe they are important issues that need to be front and center. I could careless about the Christian right - only time I go to church is for weddings and funerals.

While I am a diehard capitalist, I also understand that Globalism and poor trade deals are killing the American middle class. Trump sees this too. He is appealing to many blue collar Democrats who have been abandoned by liberal democrats.

Trump comes off as a practical, get sh*t done kind of guy to me. Yes, he isn't polished, but I kind of like that in a leader. I'm tired of people who can't just say what is on their mind without the political doublespeak. Trump seems to be the kind of person that wants solutions, not ideology.

I agree with that.

I think many on the Right have had it with Religious Power and anti-Equality.

A candidate who is so far from Libertarian that he might as well bleed blue.

To me Trump is an Elitist.

I think he sees everyone not on his accepted level as losers.

Oh you didn't know? Once Trump is elected, there won't be a need for ATS since all conspiracies will disappear. Because Trump fixes everything!

Narcissist. That's the word I use to describe him. Sometimes I put the adjective extreme in front of it too.

Youre right about that, but he's beyond moderate, hes a flaming Liberal.

Trump has endorsed and promoted every Liberal position from gun control to abortion to Obamacare.

And hes still doing it:

Donald Trump is remaining firm on a sticking point for many Republican voters — government-funded health care for all.

GOP debate: Donald Trump defends Planned Parenthood a second time.

Although he is a vowed Liberal, he knew that a rich guy would have a tough time getting the Democratic nomination.

Here are our choices this November:

Hillary Clinton or a male version of Hillary Clinton who loves the police state but hates Mexicans and Moslems.

Considering that this place is invested with Right Wingers screaming "Trump 2016!" at the top of their lungs, that is not an unreasonable suggestion.

But what if he is faking to eliminate the competition on the right, and comes out and says as much?!?!

That works too. But, I think he wants the status. Right now he's just a "working guy", he doesn't really have the "In Crowd" credentials.

I have a brother like Trump. His attitude is "you will be right, when you agree with me".

We're like Oil & Water. Always have been.

Then we all have a good laugh at how the Right Wing got trolled.

I laugh because I think they got trolled no matter what.

More than that, he's done it without being a "Christian". That is, I don't know a single Christian that believes that Trump IS a Christian in any way but "name only", and even THAT is sketchy!

So if the "Christian" and the "Evangelical" emphasis gets down graded, what will the new focus be for the Democrat smear campaigns?
