Is it because when they get found out by screaming women who felt their privacy was invaded by a schlong with makeup on, they press charges?
Apparently not. Or do you have some examples of that happening?

You talk about orgasms and genitalia a lot.

When I'm standing at the urinal I don't care who's standing next to me. I ain't looking, I'm there to do my thing and leave.

Just gotta get women thinking that way.

I'm a woman, and it annoys the hell out of me how some women monopolize a restroom.

I've seen them dump out the equivalent of an entire makeup counter on the sinks, then spreading themselves in front of it like their protecting a "litter". God forbid you want to wash your hands.

I think everything that's not a stall needs to be moved to an open common area.

This response is directed to the OP.

I'm curious what it is that changed your opinion of trans people? Is it because you realized they are normal folks with minds and opinions and thoughts and feelings like everyone else or is it because this chick happens to fall in line with your political views?

I haven't had time to listen to the whole thing but have skipped around through several parts. I am familiar with Blaire's YouTube channel and find a lot of what she says hilarious as well as thought provoking. Is it a surprise to know that transgender people can be intelligent and well spoken or just what was it that caused your change of heart about them?

It is a funny thing, most trans people don't mind answering questions if they are asked sincerely with genuine curiosity and an open-minded willingness to learn. Approached as freaks or with the attitude you are mentally ill or a pervert of some kind or in an otherwise demeaning or dismissive way, then these conversations don't go so well.

I don't know anything about trans communities other than what I have learned online in the last year or so through my own research but I met my first transgender person when I was 22. I've met a few others throughout my life and even had one gal stay with me a for couple of months about fifteen years ago so I've always known them to be just people.

Although I don't use the word transgender to describe myself, gender is something about me that has never "transed", I was assigned male at birth and was very out of place and dysphoric as a child. Although there was never one big moment of transition in my life, most people outside of high school thought I was a girl anyway but when I was 18, my folks started using my girl name and female pronouns because it was pretty silly not to and only made sense. This was in 1973 so as you can imagine, things were a little different back then.

I did the hormones thing, the surgery thing at 22 and have lived and worked my entire adult life as just the girl next door blended in as just your regular everyday cisnormative person. I was married at 30 for a dozen years to a guy that is still one of my dearest and most trusted friends and am not out about my medical history in the real world except to very few. I am now in my early sixties and have opened up about my past here on ATS to help bring some understanding and awareness to this whole thing particularly when it comes to transgender children and their families.

So, now you know two.

Thank for your post, I'm giving it a flag but I think you can see by some of the responses in this thread and the insane amount of others lately about bathrooms that not a lot of folks share your awakening over their misconceptions.

What's stopping an adult from using their 'gender' specific restroom and molesting a child of the same sex. what's stopping a gay guy, grouping another dude?
What's stopping two lesbians from not getting it on in a cubicle... honestly, the law feels forced, pushing an agenda.

The bathroom issue isn't really about trans people it is about people that will abuse the law. That being said if I saw 'her' peeing standing up next to me I might lose my lunch.

Lol. i woudnt bat a eye myself. id prolly introduce myself and ask want to hang out?

Anyway no danger of that metallicus. shes so feminine no one will question her using the womans restroom.

You do realize this would cause 10x the problem right. Literally with this jackassery you are suggesting it would force many trans people of either sex to use a bathroom that they do not look like they match the sex of. So effing stupid.

You really want a man who identies and dresses as a woman to use the same bathroom as you simply because there is still a penis? You realize this also would make people who look like men on the outside use the girls room still right?

Obvious stupidity is obvious.

What is the problem?
All penises in one room, vaginas in the other.
Why should someones fake disguise be allowed to overide anatomy?
People have a reasonable expectation of encountering matching anatomies when they enter a room that is posted gender specific.
If their disguises are good and they squat all the time, nobody would know anyway so why all the fuss? Is it because when they get found out by screaming women who felt their privacy was invaded by a schlong with makeup on, they press charges?

I dont care what sex you are if you publicly expose yourself(flashing) you should get arrested. See what I did there? No Sex mentioned. No M or F. just a PERSON. And IF the woman i s peeking SHE is in th e wrong for causing a public disturbance IF the person sh e peeped on isnt doing anything to them in the first place

ALso Unless the persons wearing a halloween mask how can their actual flesh be considered fake ? Im betting someone accidentally took home a transgender or was hit on or flirted with one time before right?(no offense intended just trying to find a reason for your phobia)

Who the Hades checks the person at the urinal next to them ? I go to the restroom and I do not give a rats a** who is next to me . I couldve at one time used the same restroom as President Obama or Bin Laden or Beyonce . I am there to do my business and get the Hades out. I once had a cleaning crew composed of women come into the restroom while I was there . Did I give a sh^^ ? Well , I could say yes in that case.....

Well, public urination is a health issue...

In any case, the issue has become "sexualized" with people using fear-based scenarios of sexual predators stalking and sulking around, waiting for unsuspecting victims to molest.

The people up in arms today will be seen just like the people who were up in arms over interracial marriage back when it was being made legal across the country.

In 50 years people will look back and wonder what the big "to do" was over all of this.

Genitalia identifies gender.
Orgasm identifies sexual preference.
Not my problem that the obvious counters ludicrous claims supporting topsy turvy worlds.

Listen to the podast, we discuss this issue. She agrees that trans people need to disclose this when they are trying to get dates. I agree with what you are saying 100%. This is an issue that needs to be first and foremost with trans people, out of respect for others, and personal safety.

Although the song was about Romance and not Respect, I've always loved the old Brownsville Station song, "You've Got To Give It, To Get It". Works the same with Respect. She's got it right. I've never worn a wedding ring because of the guys I know that lost fingers in accidents. When I still played in bands on the weekends most of the pleasant conversations I had with attractive girls/women weren't even an issue. If I got the impression it should be mentioned I would point out that I was married. I couldn't count the times I was asked, "If you don't wear a ring, how is a girl supposed to know?" The answer was always the same, "The most important thing is that 'I' know I'm married." Great thing about it is that the vast majority of those same girls became good friends and regulars in our crowds.

Btw, I subbed your YT channel soon as I saw you had it!

No Genetalia are what your SEX is according to those studies i linked to in multiple other threads. GENDER isnt whats hanging down there. If it was it would be on job applications right?

False.

Orgasm identifies sexual preference.
False.

Are you sure? Seems you have a lot of problems with things which would never have any impact on you.

So the idea is to FORCE everybody to be around t/g ppl?

Who is being forced here? As I said, you are free to leave if you find it so unbearable to work or be around others that are different than you and do not fit into your narrow view of what life has to offer.

What a stupid statement.

Life offers AIDS and Tetanus as well. I am still going to avoid them.

Sex and bathroom use are a binary decision. Your DNA says if you are Male or Female. If you have a Y Chromosome you are a Male and you use the Men's bathroom.

Anything else is illogical and makes no sense to me.

That is your belief but that won't change reality. Transgender people have been using bathrooms for a long time (and many times without you realizing it) with no problem. We already have laws for perverts.

Make up more laws, find more fake outrage, play the victim more, it's really the in thing to do in the 21st century.

OK, and there are folks that do not use deodorant for religious reasons. In fact, the use of deodorant is actually an unnatural act. SO, if you had to sit/work with someone that offended you in that respect, should they be forced to leave because YOU have a problem?
