From when I have read America was the idea of the Rosicrucians and considered to be the new Atlantis. It may have been carried out by other brotherhoods like the Masons, but they have great respect for the Rosicrucian.

Side note, the statue of liberty is the nre Colossus with the difference being lady liberty is to welcome people instead of scare them away.

In the New Atlantis notes It suggests that Atlantis Is the South of North America including Mexico, which also fits in with Edgar Cayce theory of Atlantis and Bimini Rd location.
It wasn't an overnight catastrophe but happened over the course of a few decades.

The Island in Bacon's Book however Is not the Old Atlantis but a new one.

I've always loved that almost all Christians I've encountered have never even heard of the apocrypha. Long term conditioning won, humanity lost.
