A body was found in a conference room at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino this morning, according to several news reports. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the incident. A public information officer for the department did not return a request for comment. Dispatchers received an emergency call at 8:35 a.m., according to a San Jose Mercury News report, and found a man dead. The Santa Clara County Fire Department confirmed to TechCrunch that it received a report of a Hispanic male who had suffered a head wound, but the fire department was dismissed by sheriff’s deputies and never went onto the Apple campus. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department told a Mercury News reporter that the man is an Apple employee

A man was found, possibly shot dead, in a conference room at Apple's headquarters. The only reason this caught my attention amid the clutter of news articles, is because of Apple's recent resistance to the FBI's requests to decrypt cell phones for them. I'll try and post more info as it comes out.

There aren't a lot of facts yet, not even whether it was a suicide. My thoughts are this, though: what better way to send a message to Apple's bigwigs than by murdering someone in their conference room?

Also of note: Apple just reported its first major drop in revenue in over a decade.

It may be the latent conspiracy theorist in me jumping the gun. We shall see.

Or it could be behind which direction to take the company. The stock dropped sharply recently, they are continuing to construct this enormous fortress nearby and they don't have a new product lined up that any one can see.

Could even be as simple as someone fell off of a ladder and hit their head.

Let's not jump the gun until we hear some specifics.

A couple of years ago we had a woman come in and find someone from the cleaning crew that had OD late at night. It was kept pretty quiet

Might not be any worse than when we found a dude OD'd in the toilet. Corporate world comes with mega stress, some cats just can't hang in there for it.

Either way interesting to see what comes of it.

LA Tmes - 'No foul play' suspected in Apple employee's death at company headquarters

The man’s body was found in a conference room with a gun nearby, Bay Area station KGO-TV reported. Paramedics had been dispatched to the campus about 8:35 a.m. after a report of a man with a "head wound," but were called off before going into the building, said Santa Clara County Fire Department spokeswoman Stephanie Stuehler.

The thought is suicide at this point. The LA coroner is performing an autopsy.

Do you know the book? I'm a big fan of Michael Crichton.
The story opens with the body of an Asian woman found in a conference room of some computer tech firm I think in Cupertino California. It's been a while since I read it though. Life imitating Art.

If someone commits suicide at work they are making a statement.

Maybe he just fell off of a ladder while cleaning his gun and accidentally shot himself

That would be Apple then. Back then the only computer company in Cupertino. I know, thats where i grew up. I don't know the book specifically, but get the allusion, everyone heard of Cupertino, Apple put it on the map.

Holy cow! I actually finally found something I agree with you! Absolutely, it seems like a suicide. When one does this at work rather than home or outlier region, they are definitely trying to send a message! Now, for ATS, we need to try to decipher what this message is!

Maybe he was drug addict, went into the unused conference room to shoot up and overdosed. Also embarrassing.

Please explain to me what part of 'gun nearby' and 'head wound' gives you the impression that this is simply an overdose situation?
