The Draft = Protest by mass suicide?!?

Anybody see that dude who burned himself recently and ran screaming the minute the flames roared? He literally ran around like a chicken with it's head cut off, en flambe'. I felt sorry for the guy, but at the same time I knew he was an idiot. Idiots are often very passionate. They just don't think things through.

This form of suicide is only fitting for buddhist monks because everyone else would run screaming which tends to lessen the effect of the martyrdom.

The draft will have an option for non-violent trash-picking or whatever, so relax.

Actually, I dont see the value of suicides as a deterant to a policy. Now that I am thinking of it, I dont know of any that have actually worked.

You got to admit the 70 virgins thing is funny.

I don't respect anyones religion that tells them to saw aid workers heads off or strap a bomb on and walk into a mall to TARGET women and children, nor do I respect anyones religion that tells them to burn people at the stake for witchcraft.

But to compare the two is kinda ridiculous one happened 300-400 years ago and the other is happening today. Should I be allowed to own slaves because it was allowed 200 years ago? OH wait the Muslims still do that too dont they?

I am not a Muslim Basher, I know a lot of them are ashamed of what the extremists are doing, and they SHOULD be, but till they clean their OWN house how do they expect to be respected?

I personally think the answer is trade and edcutation more so than war there are a lot of problems over there that are MAINTAINED by the Religious and Government leaders, and until the problems are addressed things will not change.

The local people in Iraq already know that the elections are what will set them free, yet they don't open their mouths to even attempt to protect their rights when the insurgent move into their neighborhoods and make trouble. I think this is a fabulous idea. A mass immolation would send a clear message to the older generation that they are a bunch of wimps for burning draft cards and tossing medals over a fence. Moreover, it would send a clear message to the Muslim terrorists than they are not the only ones to be willing to commit suicide to further a cause.

Maybe a better idea would be for half of those who oppose the draft to behead the other half and then immolate themselves. Boy, what a powerful message that would send.
