Is this a consequence of her former gender..or just what happens in MMA bouts?
Just thinking it through..

6 is WAAAAAY too young to pick a gender. All the facts are in! I'm a dinosaur mermaid! Deal with it.
Choosing ignorance helps no one.
No one "picks" a gender.

Actually about 1 in every 1500 births is born with indeterminate gender....with genitalia somewhere between male and female. In those case the doctors most often make an educated guess and operate accordingly...otherwise...Doctors sometimes "pick" a gender.

It is now recommended to leave it alone until the child decides.

Critics are scrutinizing mixed martial arts (MMA) competitor Fallon Fox, after the transgender fighter gave her opponent a concussion and broke her eye socket.
Fox defeated her opponent, Tamikka Brents, by TKO at 2:17 of the first round of their match. Brent’s eye injury resulted in a damaged orbital bone that required seven staples.
In a post-fight interview this week, Brents told Whoa TV, “I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life.”

Quick thoughts...
"Identity"..and recognizing the equality of the same is different than "Physicality"
There are men's and women's leagues for a reason?
Ditto with weight classes etc?
Then again...this does seem to be a topic no one would be talking about if not for it being known she had a sex-change operation?
A guy was just killed in an MMA match in the UK and everybody if up in arms? What's the explanation there? Shall I google up "Concussion" or "Broken Eye Socket" and MMA?
Is this a consequence of her former gender..or just what happens in MMA bouts?
Just thinking it through..

As a father, I don't want a TG dude in the stall next to my daughter, especially when she was say.. 12.
How about this 14 year ...
Or this 6 year ...

Trans say don't judge a book by its cover and then you ask us to judge a book by its cover like a picture tells the story.
Unbelievable.

You wouldn't send a featherweight into a fight with a middlewieght. They did that back In the day and people were appalled and called it a "freak show".
ETA: If this was a fight between two men or two women in different weight classes and the smaller one got seriously injured I would hope folks would be up in arms over the whole thing. Sadly I doubt it. That wouldn't fit this insane SJW special snowflake agenda.

Judging?
This is who the NC law is primarily meant to target. Students.

You say it targets students and I say it protects them.

No one picks a gender, I agree because you are born with one.
Which IMO(which carries no weight I understand that) is a VERY mature choice best left to mature adults that have a firm grasp on reality.
Hence the 'Dinosaur mermaid' comment. What is the difference between a 6 yo saying hes a girl and another 6 yo saying hes a girraffe? None I say, its an imagination exploring the world.
To humor a child like that is cruel.

reading up on this...she took years of Hormone Therapy...which does dramatically change your physicality.
and looking at her build and appearance I am not convinced this was out of order. She actually has lessor build than the majority of female MMA fighters I have seen..who ironically might be taking steroids..
apart from the convenience of knee-jerk reactions for ideological purposes...this doesn't look like an obvious mis-match by any objective standards.

It looks like random random violence to anyone that doesn't understand the discipline behind it, the respect you give your opponent for making you better at your game, becoming a better person through adversity and pushing your limitations by conquering fear and the good people you meet in the gym who all want to help you become the best human being you can possibly be in every area of your life.
It's a deep and rewarding pursuit that not many will ever understand.
