AHHHHH!!!! This is so frustrating.

Seriously why spend hundreds of your hard earned cash on a Gaming console and then getting the games so you can play online with others then not bothering to use voice chat!!!! YOUR PS4 COMES WITH A MICROPHONE FOR A REASON!!!!

Sorry but I gota get this off my chest its driving me nuts.

Recently got hooked on the Division, went into matchmaking to play the new incursion and after over a hour of trying to get a decent squad (all with mics) i have gotten nothing I have been trying actually for days to get a decent squad together. All i get is either just a bunch of Noobs or a group of players who have forgotten how important communication is in squad based game play. Now yes i said Noobs, don't judge me but I am a reasonable player, I don't want to be having to take up the slack for some guy who has just reached the level cap but has crap gear.

But honestly this is making me want to smash up my shiny PS4 with a bat, its a online squad based shooter RPG. USE YOUR MIC!!!!

HOW CAN ANYONE EXPECT TO BEAT THIS THING IF THEY DONT TALK TO THE REST OF THE TEAM.

Rant over (and no i do not want your psn details)

It was exactly the same when I was playing Ghost Recon Phantoms. If nobody talked,i.e. said "hi" at the start of the match,we were going to lose.

I was always right.

Don't you have anyone on your friend list you could play with?

Then organise a game with people fully kitted! Stop ranting and take control.

Try playing after the kids go to bed. Week nights. You tend to find the older crowd.

It's because games are being dumbed down. Games that require teamwork, communication, and objective play that consists of more than TDM and basic point control are too much for most of today's gamers. I don't know how or why its come to that, but finding a random group of people online that actually know how to play as a team is a rare, if not impossible task anymore...

However, it's a real treat when it happens!

I don't use my mic or headset because I do not wish to hear the high pitched squeals of young children or their foul mouthed rants or how about that d-bag that plays his crap music and shares it via his mike so all can hear the sounds of coffee pots and pans being banged on by an enraged orangutan.

Aside from that most people don't listen to commands and just do their own thing, you could be a seasoned Navy SEAL and they would shrug off your directives like pfft eff this guy, I'm camping in the corner because my aim sucks so I wait like a sneaky spider and *BANG* with my shotgun.

Your best bet is to play with people you actual know in real life, those are always the best squads. Just a bit of shameless video gaming gloating here but I've scored in the top 30% of all time in team deathmatch Black Ops III, come at me bro! In actuality though if your own skills are far superior you can carry your team and win, I've done it, my win loss ratio stays at like 1.00 so I break even there but no matter how good you are your team can still be so bad you lose.

Some kids parents dont let their children live chat with strangers online. Others may have got their console used, then there are those that just don't care.

Just wondering why you wouldn't want someone from ats's psn name. If you're ranting about players without mics, then one or more happen to be here dealing with the same crap, you'd say no thanks?

I'm sure you have legitimate reasons, it's just that I'm having trouble thinking of any. Unless your real name is used in your screen name or something? And if they turn out to be a weirdo, just block them...

I don't know if any of you have played the Doom 2016 Open Beta yet, same deal- voice support, but the only thing I ever hear is Hip-Hop or keyboard clatter when the mic. is stuck. It does not feel anything like Q3 or any of the vintage FPS multiplayer games (think zdoom), and wonder if I am just getting too old for computer games... I don't own a console, because the only games I have ever spent any serious time playing are best played with a mouse & keyboard/gaming pad and until recently were only available as PC versions.

Yes let's sterotype the gamer as being some kind of hermit.

While I don't console game - PC gamer - I don't use my mic unless I absolutely HAVE to. And then I don't speak unless I absolutely HAVE to. And then because it's been deemed that I HAVE to, I finally speak. And then my cover is blown! They know I'm female! I have stereotypical boys breathing heavily into the mic and I have to gtfo.

(Has happened twice or thrice... thankfully I now have a group of people who play the same games I do who don't care what gender I am and talk to me like a normal human.)

So much this.

As a guy, I actually prefer to game with the fairer gender.

Has much to do with the chauvinistic teenage boys and "i'm better then you, and your gearscore isn't high enough" mentality.

Also has to do with most women use proper English, and don't call everyone "Brah".. or other such names.

I haven't used a mic in quite a while (aside it being busted), I typically play a support role, so I keep tabs on my team-mates, and let them worry about the baddies.

As far as communication, I do type.. As to whether people read, or are capable is another question all together.

The joys of having a keyboard and mouse, tho.

Unfortunately what you've described is all too common place. I don't like having silent people on my team/squad, but I can completely understand the silence in regard to what you've described. It's not right at all. I can't count the times I've kicked people from squads (Battlefield) for acting like that towards members of my old group. Thankfully, I've noticed a growing intolerance of that type of behavior amongst older gamers. You've touched on a pet peeve of mine for sure...

Many games are like this. If you want real teamwork and como then you need to join an organized clan. Bottom line.

Get off of the console
get a pc game
get onto steam
use Team Speak.

I KNOW there are players on there that do exactly what you are wishing for the PS4.

I know there'll be plenty who wont like this next comment, but, consoles are where the children play!

Stop buying consoles..just upgrade your PC to gaming specs, get your games cheaper, better, and with a more mature community

100% spot on
Parents aren't gonna get their brat a $1000+ pc, but they may toss them a console. What you end up is..that.

Hmm does playing retro on console count? Its something about the Sega and Nintendo on a Nintendo or genesis console that make it happen for me, emulating PC isn't the same. Also I like to collect games and find it more enjoyable with console games with more modern consoles. I have a PC I can play on but don't really anymore cause I cant afford to upgrade atm. For me its always about the games not necessarily what they are played on.
