For scifi fans good news and bad news.

Good news: New SciFi Alien type show
Bad News: It looks like a SYFY cheesy show?

Only saw the trailer but plan to watch it later.
Maybe others like me that are SciFi thirsty and are willing to endure more torture from the SYFY channel might give the new show a try.

5.7 IMBD
The disappearance of a decorated FBI agent's wife leads him to a secret government unit assembled to hunt a group of ruthless terrorists - shadowy figures that may or may not be from this world.

Also their is another Alien related show called wait for it wait for it , The Aliens

It has a district 9 feel to it.

Nearly 40 years ago aliens crash-landed in the UK. They look like us, but are forced to live in a ghetto. Border control officer Lewis falls in love with one.

Colony is decent but left it out since its already been discussed.

Yeah i don't have high hopes for the show hunters, but as a scifi junkie I got to atleast give it a shot knowing dam well its going to be tortures .

The Aliens isn't horrible, but its more 98% drama 2% scifi from what I have seen.

It's all for entertainment, viewers, therefore business.

They will never find anything.

They are funded and licensed lol.

If we are going to find aliens and such, I'm sure the deep military and alphabet agencies will be the first to find out

The second one sounds a bit like the failed series...The Event.

The plot centers on a group of extraterrestrials, some of whom have been detained by the United States government for sixty-six years since their ship crashed in Alaska, while others have secretly assimilated among the general populace.

Sci/Fi channel = schlock.

Not a District 9 feel, but rather just a D9 copy. Add in that they look human and then of course the alien that the human falls in love with is an alien that looks like a beautiful sexy woman that a human male falls in love with. Season two? An alien that looks like a hunky buff body builder that a human woman falls in love with.

Season 3, fifteen years later, their children meet and give birth to the Messiah.

If you are a junkie, you will be better off with a good sci fi book than 99% that makes the big screen. For me, good sci fi has depth to it that in most cases just cannot be transferred to the screen. Special effects aside.

I didnt mine the event hence it got cancelled, lol.

Actually liked the event more than the aliens show because it was more scifi based than comedy/drama like the aliens.

Dont disagree. Todays scifi shows are like a cookie cutter drama scripts with a hint of scifi.

Typical plot:
Insert [overdone drama about inner human struggles] x 98% of show plot
+
then insert [ scifi element here: zombies, aliens, vampires, time travel, etc ] x2% of plot.

= just about every scifi show that i see today follows that script.

Walking dead, colony 5%scifi, the aliens, under the dome, etc

It always turns out about human vs human struggle and the idiots doing something stupid that jeopardizes the team, and the hero that is fighting his inner demons and backstabbing.

I liked "the colony". But I have to say I didn't watch that as sci-fi. How can I say that better. I watched the Colony as just a regular show, where in the setting can be seen as sci-fi but is only used to change the rules of how people interact with each other. The setting is just an underlying theme and not the main focus imo.

I am not a fan of "second chance", don't like or dislike it, but is comparable in the sense that the sci-fi part is the underlying theme that gives the story writers the possibility to have characters act and react in a way we don't see normally. That is all.

I do like "the 100"so far. Although it is racing through the storyline that easily could have been elaborated much more, I like the setting of Technology and Tribalism, the "blood for blood" and the all destructing A.I. with the city of Light.

Another show is "the expanse", the first season was too short to really say yay or nay, but at least the whole environment was "out there" so to say.

All this brings me to another question I just might ask right now. In a lot of sci-fi or semi-sci-fi shows (like "the expanse" or "extant" for that matter) we see people with clear glass phones. We first saw that as windows with information on them and transparent computer screens in like command centers but it has shifted to the small gadgets too. I know it looks cool in a show, a detective browsing through info in a bar and You can see what he is looking at as well as his face. So movie and/or tv wise I get that. But for real? With all that see trough stuff anyone can see what you are watching right?

Dies anyone miss the show "Almost Human"? Karl Urban played the lead. I absolutely LOVED that show, and still cannot believe they cancelled such an innovative show. Great effects, great script...what wasn't there to like?!

I saw rumors about a season 2, but so far hasn't panned out. Guess I can only hope as a fan that it will be taken up by someone other than Fox. Kind of like " Firefly" and it's fan base...unrequited love!!

AHHH , those bast@rds. I liked that show and was waiting for season 2. I had not realized they cancelled it. I knew better than to watch the first season of any show, because when I like them they cancel them.

They did it to terry nova and invasion.

Yeah I like the colony but I have given hope on the 98% drama to 2% sc-fi ratio being broken with it. However, not sure with the 98% drama to 2% sc-fi ratio that I can last more than 2 seasons. By the 3rd season it will likely become about human vs human fighting and struggles which has been done like a gazillion times.

I am not a fan of "second chance"

Honestly didn't even it give it a chance because the corny cover and it sounds like 99.9% cop drama show.

I do like "the 100"so far.

I watched the episode but it couldn't keep my interest maybe I will give another chance.

Another show is "the expanse

Wasn't bad and watched most of the episodes but kind of lost interest on it as well and didnt watch the last 2 episodes.

clear glass phones

LOL IMO I think its another example of hollywood being cookie cutter and lazy and not coming up with anything original.

There was a "hint" about there being season 2, but, as we both know (sob, sob, weep, sob)...t'wernt tah be right now I guess. Aargh!

My son and I have a catch phrase whenever we see some really bad piece of wasted air time (which is pretty much ALL the time) "...and yet they cancelled Almost Human"!?! Pray for some sensibilities amongst the GAP!

Thanks!

Ummm.. is not chris carters new x-files series sci fi? Scully does a reptile, s10e03. s10e01, a replicated ufo anti grav ship is blown up by DOD. Lots of by play, are UFOs really hidden DOD projects to trap real ETs... S10e02 , DOD is genetically manipulating human dna to create the super soldier. Found these issues to be riveting, given the relevance of Carters first episode of Lone Gunmen, march 2001...DOD remote controlled 737 tries to crash into WTC.
maybe these are old..i have no tv.

The new x-files was a mini series with only 6 episodes that made and the season is already over.

Found these issues to be riveting

They were good and did have the old xfiles feel to them with more scifi than the typical human drama plots which have been redone to many times.

Hopefully their might be an offshoot for a new xfiles , likely starring the younger scully and fox.
