This area of Alaska is a little weird to say the least. People go missing. There have been strange creature sightings, bigfoot, UFOs, excessively large animals, and this is also where HAARP is located. Looking for strange stories from this area. The area is mostly unpopulated. The fishing is good in the region (Copper River area).

McCarthy is the small village that is next to the abandoned Kennecott Mine - silver and copper mine. It's strange to read up on the mine. It was populated by a few thousand people from 1900-1938. A report was done on the ore veins and it was thought that it might run out, so in a matter of days the mining town was abandoned. People left so fast that dishes, laundry, hospital items, etc were left out - giving the mine and mining town a creepy feeling. There have been reports of strange animal noises, bigfoot, and UFOs in the Kennecott area.

I also want to point out that Ft.Greely (marked green area), missile defense site and space base, is really close to this area. There are rumors that Ft.Greely is a gov't-alien base and that they have an underground base built into Mt.Hayes. This is from sightings of weird creatures at Greely, UFOs, and suggestions of reverse-engineering.

Hm...

I've lived up here my entire life and I've never heard any "stories" about UFOs, bigfoot. Perhaps I don't get out enough! Alaska would be a good place to hide something though. Folks down south have no idea just how BIG Alaska is!

How much time do you spend in this particular area? Have you talked to people at Ft.Greely?

Nah, I've got some friends that head up that direction to hunt/fish. Got some friends in Fairbanks area too. I don't get up that far North to often personally.

I have a feeling a lot of the missing person's cases are unprepared people caught in the unpredictable weather we get.

One would think we'd have more UFO sightings up here because of how sparsely populated it is, but if the military wants to test secret aircraft, they usually want to be closer to support infrastructure. Its just easier to test something at night in the desert, unfortunate for us!

If you talk to psychics, Alaska is a "dead zone" -- sort of a psychic black hole. We have so few people up here spread out -- that there isn't a lot of psychic "residue". To the psychics I've talked to, Alaska "feels" kind of cold and frozen, like the permafrost. Which, might make it a good place to test psychic ability -- less interference.

It's a real wilderness in that area and easy to get lost.
Don't know about Bigfoot but there's lots of bears.
It's an amazing place and my favorite national park; huge and isolated.

I'm going to head down this way either this next weekend or the weekend after. If anyone wants pictures of stuff (including Greely area), let me know. I'll see what kind of pictures I can get of HAARP. I'll be in the Gakona area. If anyone would like to meet up, just let me know.
