Eilasvaleleyn's idea gave me an idea. What if you posted a youtube video of a song. And everyone wrote from that? This is what made me think of it

Perhaps? The issue with that is that it seems rather restrictive on what can be done. You either end up in a situation where what you've written is extremely close to the lyrics and everything's the same or everything's only tangentially related and you really have to squint and tilt your head sideways to see where it came from. Rather than "following a song", perhaps just "inspiration by the song."
