What Maya era are you speaking of? Pre-Ancient; Ancient, Middle; classic?

It looks like the OP may be trying to justify the act attributed to the Mayans.

Maybe not. I don't make that point in any way as a pejorative, just a speculation.

Some people who get a sort of idealistic view of the Mesoamerican cultures find it hard to accept the supposed historical findings that these cultures indulged in massive sacrifices as a practice.
