The Inuit of Canada said that one of the ships of the Franklin Expedition abandoned off the west coast of King William Island had the body of a "Giant" on board.
The Inuit record was dismissed at the time as the word of unreliable "savages". It should be considered that the Inuit said the expedition had resorted to cannibalism (True), and that one of the ships sunk off King William Island - where the Erebus was discovered in 2014.
If they were correct about the above, it is reasonable to presume that they saw something resembling a "Giant".
As archaeology techniques improve, more and more of the native oral historical records have been vindicated.

They WERE referring to Big Jeezly Things...
The Inuit of Pelly Bay told Charles Francis Hall, John Rae and Francis McLintock, in separate accounts, of the Scary Big Jeezly Things (love that term. I'm stealing it.)
"...it took five men to lift it and, stranger still the corpse had very long teeth, as long as an Inuit's fingers..." It was said to be a member of a "Frightening Tribe" of such beings that lived on King William Island.
