Azerbaijan is a secular nation with no official state religion. While the religious majority is Shia Islam, from 2000 to 2013 6 people have been killed in terrorist related attacks. Given the advances Azerbaijan made when it was released from Soviet occupation serves as another example of just how wrong the USSR and now Russia have gotten it.

Well said... As an Armenian living in the US, I must say I am deeply disappointed in the lack of attention and support that Armenia has received. It truly sucks

There location helps considering they are sitting at the cross roads of the silk road and several other trade routes. From everything I have seen Azerbaijan is one of those rare forward thinking countries albeit they have government corruption issues like everyone else.

If they could settle the issue with Armenia I think they would have a very real possibility of transforming the region.

For the record the US has not bombed Syrian government forces and are present with the consent of the Syrian government (a fact thats conveniently ignored by some).
Libya was an UN authorized mission pushed by France and the UK and not the US.
Afghanistan was a result of harboring Bin Laden (not to mention falling under Chapter VII - 52 of the UN charter.
Iraq should have been finished during the 1st gulf war.

Now that a ceasefire has being imposed by Azeris because of its losses this would make look bad on Erdogan who was counting on Azeris to finish of Armenia.

And are you aware that Turks and Azerbain military have being sending jet fighters to attack the Armenians today? Oh and yeah the Armenian military took down an Azerbain Israeli drone. Well post soon.

So, once again post your source because thus far you have made a false claim and now your are trying to move the goal post. The deflection is coming from you considering you stated you would post it.

You have not done so.
The "told you so" is a deflection.

Azerbaijan is a American/Turkey Proxy Puppet ........ as are all European countries. Why do they take the risk being taken over by Muslims?

Any country that peruses a foreign policy independent of Washington gets bombed back to the stone age. Look at Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria.

Mind you, note the geographical location of these countries, they are all close to a very small but very powerful country in the mid east, listen to whom all the presidential candidates are affirm their support to.

Ah but also your Russia has had a hand in Bombing Afghanistan remember ! and now Syria back to your stone age.. ( Oh and Georgia and Ukraine mm 5-4 and I am not counting )
As a side note a Ceasfire has been called by your American/Turkey proxy Puppet I hope it will Hold and a peace prevail..

Azerbaijan has announced a "unilateral ceasefire" in fighting with Armenian forces over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region. A defence ministry spokesman said the Azeris were acting in response to international calls to halt violence. But the Armenia-backed Karabakh military said "fierce fighting" was continuing. Nagorno-Karabakh has been in the hands of ethnic-Armenian separatists since a war that ended in 1994. Fighting had continued into Sunday, after clashes left 30 soldiers dead and caused civilian casualties.

Yes the Turks support them, as do many other countries most important of all Russia who sells them top of the line weapons systems. So when Armenia was just annoyed at Russia expanding its air base without asking anyone a nice little clash on the border pops up to remind them that those well armed Azeris are a big danger without Russian troops. Just ignore the fact the Russians just sold Azerbaijan a crap load of weapons again. And that nice little rail corridor for north south trade deal between Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran the bypasses Armenia certainly shows how Russia likes to reward Azerbaijan at the expense of Armenia.

For the West best case scenario would be a peaceful solution and reduction in tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan removing Russia excuse to be in Armenia and allowing Armenia to slip to the West. However so long as Russia keeps shipping arms to both sides that is not likely to happen nor is it in Russia's best interest.

Nagorno-Karabakh clash: Turkey backs Azeris 'to the end' against Armenia

And you do know why this is?

They are backing the country they have ties with, as the other blames them for things that happened during the Ottoman empire.

Turkey has close ties to Baku but does not have relations with Yerevan because of the dispute over mass killings of Armenians during the Ottoman era, which Armenia says was a genocide. Turkey staunchly denies this.

SO that is why they back one side over the other..

But it sure is interesting that Russia is sending 200 million dollars of military equipment that Armenia is using to to shore up their military presence on Azerbaijan territory shows this is a problem that Russia is trying to push farther because Turkey has close ties to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan has repeatedly brought to international community’s attention the undeniable facts that the weapons and military equipment acquired by Armenia are deployed on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh region, read the note. “By deploying these weapons on the occupied territories without the consent of the exporting country, Armenia grossly violates its international legal obligations, as well as the weapons control regime and transparency,” said Hajiyev.

“Thereby, Armenia enhances its military presence on Azerbaijan’s occupied lands,” he added. Hajiyev also said Azerbaijan demands the exporting country, Russia, to provide a guarantee for non-use of the weapons and military equipment sold to Armenia on Azerbaijani territories, as well as along the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.

Seems Russia is using Armenia as their proxy towards an ally of Turkey, but of course you seem to want to leave that part out why?

Guess telling the whole story would take away from your anti west stance by showing Russia is heavily involved in this conflict...as they have been in most conflicts involving ex Soviet countries.

Russia who sells them top of the line weapons systems.

Except that they have been arming Armenia with even more weapons that are being used to shore up their positions in Azerbaijan territories.

What I see happening is RUssia is trying to cause these two countries to fight so that they can blame Turkey for backing Azerbaijan over Armenia so they can make Turkey look like the bad guy while they keep supplying the tools of war to keep the conflict alive.

There seems to be a certain country involved in all of the conflicts happening with former soviet countries...and it isn't the US. Russia seems to want to keep their former states in a constant state of conflict so that they can blame other countries and make themselves look like the saviors...even when the world see what they are doing.

I am not surprised that An American would rather back Turkey over the Armenians.

I could say the same how Turkey is using as their proxy towards Armenia. Since your beloved Ottoman Empire has unfinished business of killing Christians.

Guess telling the whole story would take away from your anti west stance by showing Russia is heavily involved in this conflict...as they have been in most conflicts involving ex Soviet countries.

Your post shows that you would side with Turkey over the christian nation Armenians. Which is not surprising after all.

You Americans have never recognized the armenian genocide which has being created by the Turks as they slaughtered million Christians.

Guess telling the whole story would take away from your anti west

Given the stance you would side with the Ottoman empire.

but of course you seem to want to leave that part out why?

Its rather comical that you left out that Armenia is a Christian nation and Azerbaijan is a puppet proxy state for Erdogan its not a surprise to see Erdogan how quickly he has taken sides and Erdogan did say to Azerbaijan.

Finish those Christians off.

Historical Russia and Armenia have being allies for a long time and if Russians want to shore up their military presence near Azerbaijan they have a right to do so in order to defend the Christians.

You Americans have already created already many problems in this world so dont try to act so kindly by claiming that RUSSIA IS EVIL PUTIN IS EVIL That.

Since your argument falls short.
