This plan has been around since 1964 and Lyndon Johnson as far as I am aware. Found it in 1985 and it was authored by someone in the cia. Cruz probably plagiarized the original research lol.

Merging into an American Union is a terrible idea. If we wanted Mexico we would have kept it after we kicked Santa Anna's butt. I want the United States to break into smaller Republics and not add more bloated states.

We all know Americans loves to cheat through war. Canada will be screwed forever and Mexico would have to go to war against America to stay independent. I'm more concerned with this potentially being the plan of the conservative establishment.

Would partly explain them seeing Trump as such a threat to their business ventures.

The open borders, turning us into a North American version of the EU is something you expect from the left. That our right apparently feels the same way is an enormous red flag.

But it's gotten so ridiculous any argument against this plan is essentially labelled as being racist and bigoted by those who fail to understand it's a safety and economic issue.

Sorry -didn't mean mistake you for the OP.

Heidi Cruz is listed as a task force member - not the co-author. Her name includes an asterisk which is noted as "*The individual has endorsed the report and submitted an additional or a dissenting view".

From page 6 of report - "A new North American community should rely more on the market and less on bureaucracy, more on pragmatic solutions to shared problems than on grand schemes of confederation or union, such as those in Europe. We must maintain respect for each other’s national sovereignty. " (bolding mine).

Doesn't sound much like someone wanting to merge the three countries. Also, the report is from 2005 and states that they want it all in place by 2010. Hasn't happened yet.

It appears to be brought up now just because we are in the middle of the election and the site posting it is owned by a Trump supporter.

I get that policies, regulations and such between the countries need to be similar to make trade and travel, etc, easier , but I'm failing to see the racist side of the argument, unless that part is between Mexico and the US? Canada and the US are both melting pots of cultures and all races...

That said, I am against a NAU.
Canada's population of only 35 million functions ok. The politics and bureaucratic nightmares of the US government feels like it would cause Canada far too many problems...
