Well given Roman soldiers weren't armed with lances or spears, but were armed with Pilum, I'd put money on the stabbing device being a Pilum.

Read various interesting stories on it, from the nazis searching for it to Patton getting hold of it and it driving him insane. The mythology surrounding it is definitely strange. Whether or not it even exists is something else entirely.

Yes the Kukri is the blade used by Gurkha's. My avatar is in memory to my father who was presented with a Kukri by the regiment he was seconded to while in Cyprus (EOD Instructor), as well as in recognition of one of the most feared warriors on the planet.

A fighter friend, back in the days, told me the story about the Gurkha police and their ways with troublesome subjects. I thought it sounded plausible, so I've treated it like truth ever-since, and retold it, since knowing that a proper Gurkha can impose enough fear on a goat from fifty yards away, for it so fall over stiff all rigid from fear, and there was actually a film made about this in 2009, «Men who stare at goats», based on a true story about an American special forces unit that tried out all kinds of weirdness, typically high on drugs, like, all the time, who among other things tried staring at goats to make them fall over probably inspired by stories about the Gurkhas.

Anyone who has served with a Gurkha soldier— let alone the famous British Gurkha regiment, knows, I mean, knows— the Gurkhas are capable of most things mythical and unbelievable, and are the last kind of soldiers you'd wanna end up fighting against. Before you'd released the safety on your weapon one of them may have already disabled your whole unit, with his bare hands, standing there in blood up to his neck just pointing at you, and that's when you'd likely go stiff with fear like the aforementioned goats. And the funny thing about that, is that I am not even joking.

Hey Ut. I've dealt with gangbangers, bikers , crackheads and stone cold killers. The scariest mofo's I've ever ran into were Gurkhas and Nepalese in general. Even the women have the killer stare. They are some of the friendliest and most generous people on the planet but don't ever cross them.

If you ever get the chance o go to Nepal it's an experience you will never forget and a place you will have a hard time leaving.

I always thought Orion was 'The Archer' the central stars above his belt representing the bow and arrow. I've never heard of it being represented as a spear.

Strange you should say that as that was the impression I had when meeting them. Truly blessed even in extreme hardship, or at least hardships we as westerners would define it. So many peoples across the globe seem to see the light where we would only see darkness.

I really need to start travelling more as I personally have lost the (dare I say) enlightenment I experienced when free to roam. So much to experience and so little time.
