Nobody is forcing you to read this. You can easily ignore it if it displeases you.

Couldn't I say the same to you regarding the people in the bar? Were you glued to your seat? Couldn't you have just said, "hey, I just came to relax and have a drink, not fight over politics. I'm moving to the other side of this bar, have a nice day"? Seems to me that might have even made them feel a little bad if you were the one who took the high ground.

Plus, we are only hearing your side of the story. You did mention you giggled when the guy said something about Bernie saving the country. You didn't think you laughing at him would upset him in any way?

I took the OP as NOT discussing "politics", and never said who he WAS supporting. He laughed at a Twitter feed, and the woman was nosy. He mentioned in Trump in a comment, and was verbally assaulted. No one let him explain anything, they just assumed.

My own sister stopped speaking to our whole family because we didn't support Obama. She called us all racists money-loving elites. Which, btw, we are NOT. She didn't even take the time to find out what concerns we had, nor who we DID support. She finally "forgave" us when my father died. But it wasn't even a year later that she got mad at something and went back to the same rant. It's hard to believe that a political ideology would cause someone to disavow her entire family. We're not young idealists - she is 60 years old! It's crazy!

Well that proves it, only liberals act out like childish brats when it comes to politics.

The scary part was, when I giggled at the Twitter feed, I thought I kept it to myself, But she got nosy and said "What's so funny".

I kinda gave a reaction like "Oh I just was reading something about Trump and Cruz" and was actually putting my phone down to focus on her not to be rude, thinking we would talk about something else.

Before I got the phone down.....tirade.

Some on this thread consider that "discussing politics".

My advice, no Politics amongst drunks. Vote for who you want. The Country is a wreck, people are very upset and Divide and Conquer is working as planned.

So - you talked politics in a BAR and were met by hostility and aggression?

In other news - water is in fact wet.

So I'm guessing you didn't read my post?

Apparently not.
I thought you were clear about it.

And I am assuming you read it? AS only 1 person identified themselves as a Bernie Supporter.

That's too bad. On my side of the family, my mom and I are the only liberals. We basically know who our conservative family members are going to vote for, they basically know who we are going to vote for. We agree everyone has the right to vote how they want, and we don't discuss politics at family get-togethers. Same deal with me and my husband and his side of the family. It works for us.

Even my mom and I don't always agree. She's voting for Hillary (YUCK!), but we don't fight about it, and I love her anyway.

As soon as I put Bernie sign up the middle fingers go to thumbs up

Would this guy also expect to go to a Jets Home game with a Dolphins Tshirt and screaming Dolphins and not get pestered back?

That was really a pointless biased experiment to get the effects he wanted for himself and his viewers.

Having said that I think everyone in that video including the guy and they Bernie supporters are the problem in this country.

The first girl threw Bernie in too. I just didn't write that part.

The assumption political opponents are racist happens all the time by disingenuous leftists.

“There’s a certain level of vehemence, it seems to me, that’s directed at me [and] directed at the president,” Mr. Holder told ABC News. “You know, people talking about taking their country back. … There’s a certain racial component to this for some people. I don’t think this is the thing that is a main driver, but for some, there’s a racial animus.”

In regards to Joe Wilson’s outburst yelling “Liar” to president Obama:

"I think it's based on racism…There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president."

- Jimmy Carter

Chris Matthews talking about the town hall protests on MSNBC’s Hardball, August 11, 2009.: “Okay, I think, I think some of the people are upset because we have a black President.”

What evidence have they of racism? None besides the skin colors of those involved and their own sordid thoughts, or in other words, their own racism. To assume you are an elitist without evidence is classist. To assume you are a sexist without evidence is sexist. This is the kind of dangerous insincerity and bigotry people are up against, and it has finally gone mainstream.

Sounds like you need to recover in a safe-space after being verbally assaulted.

Bumped this cuz it almost sent coffee out of my nose.

Mind you, the guy just met me, and we never actually spoke about politics, before he went into his tirade, not a word.

To play devils advocate here.. You were the one to bring up politics,I get that you merely mentioned the name of the candidate you're supporting for POTUS. However that's still enough to spark a debate regardless of who it is.
I'm not saying your in the wrong because both people you encountered made several assumptions about your political views just based on those short but sweet interactions, which is a fallacy on their part.

As other members stated, anything in relation to politics is probably not something I'd recommend discussing with in a bar to strangers. Sad times are these elections cycles,as the ugly aspect of people are really shown...

ETA;

It seems the people you came across have the "if only every one were like me" mentality.

Sounds like your brought the Trump name up to both of them and you in fact ARE a trump supporter afterall. Whether you said just a name or not we only have your word. Either way. Dude is a rascist. Yup it pisses people off in the 21st century. Who woulda thunk?

So...
Talking Politics at a bar..Prevented you from getting laid (story 1) and almost got you into a fight (story 2)?

I am having a hard time finding this novel in any way.

I learned not to talk politics in a bar when I was 18 and snuck into a bar the next town over.

I got mouthy with a guy over politics...he asked me to step outside...I obliged...He followed me out with half the bar behind him including the bar tender with a bat! My life was saved that night when a friend arrived by lucky fate just as they were making a circle around me..and that friend was of a particularly bad and unstable element and pulled out a 38 and told everyone to back the hell off, stuffed me in his car and we sped out of there. I went back the next morning for my car...all the tires slashed, windows smashed out etc.

Honestly...don't talk politics in a bar.
