I had it first! MY QUOTE! Bad dave, BAD!
And this is kind of a meaningless post/thread.

And as for Ben, he was a genius, if that is what you want.

Signatures and quoting!

Far too many people have excessive signatures (more than the five lines of text, or four lines and a graphic as described here Avatar and Signature guidelines and if your text wraps, that's a new line]. Large signatures disrupt the flow of a message thread. If your signature continues to exceed our guidelines, we'll simply remove it from your profile. If too many people are still unable to comply to this simple courtesy, signatures will be disabled.

not trying to be an ass, but i'd like to keep the signature feature.

Had I arrived here before their were replies it would have been scrapped. It is a meaningless thread, but now that it has gotten off the ground somewhat, maybe you guys can make something of it.

As far as the quote being meaningless somewhere else but meaningful in the U.S., how do you figure that? Liberty is not confined to or owned by the U.S. It is a desire shared by all human beings to one degree or another. The question is, how strong is a society's desire?

In the beginning of this nation's time, the desire for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness was a strong and driving force ingrained by the Creator so that we would rise up and build a nation that he could bless and use for His good. And it happened thatthe nation was built and that nation was used to thwart Evil many times throughout the world.

But today, our society personifies another quote from another great leader of our past, Thomas Jefferson,

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

When is something meaningless ? Why does humans always take them self as the center of everything ? detach your self one time from everything you know and believe in, see the world from a different perspective.. you'd notice more...

It is serious in my opinion, and dave, it means a thing over here too, even though it's not the USA. So I don't see why it's meaningless...

I actually like the quote dave, and I feel that it can refer to what is happening now. However by saying that this thread is meaningless, I meant that you gave us a quote without anything to talk about. No opinion, just a quote. You did not even say who it was by. It is the same as starting a thread and saying "the sky is blue," There is no point.

#1. " you would have scrapped it"...(and your avatar )shows me the mentality responding here...
#2. it would be meaningless to you...wherever you're from...the desire for life, liberty etc...IS, not WAS,a strong driving force, ( your true mindset exposed!)
#3. The US govt IS acting as if it owns liberty.....(and its changing the price (of liberty) on a daily basis!).
#4. I thank you for the discourse....Lefty Dave

N O T A Q U O T E....but a paraphrase !!

It was a self- responce to my first post/ hoping to generate interest in a 4 JULY assembly of citizens in DC to protest the US governments blatant disregard for the Constitution on which it stands...and for the people who authorized it to represent them.

Lefty Dave thanks for your responce.
