This article really gives some insight into the minds of [snipped] Republican voters. It would be really funny if it wasn't so sad. What kind of person is scared to go to a public building without an arsenal? Obviously people who are paranoid and not quite normal. I also found the statement "god-given right" to carry guns hilarious since there's no evidence of god, and of course the bible says nothing about guns and Jesus himself never carried a weapon.

It is my understanding that the arena is a privately-owned venue. The operators of the arena have a policy that no firearms are allowed.

Have to respect their property rights, no matter how many get butthurt.

Are you really ignorant enough to believe that every person who plans to vote Republican would fit neatly into the stereotype you just stuffed them into. I mean we are talking about millions on millions of people...but yea guess they're all fanatics huh. Man could you sound any dumber...

No that only applies for protesting, which is true, we all know you can't apply that to firearms without turning america in to a communist state.

The Republicans should either move to a different venue or cancel their convention. Either way I won't care what happens there or doesn't happen there. I care more about the firearms issue and right to carry than I do about their sad convention.

I do as well, but then again with the way the campaigning and polical events have gone its probably a good idea to keep the guns at home and just pay for police presence in the form of off duty officers. Could you imagine something like the Chicago rally with an 80% armed attendance... It would be pure madness.

Oh good!

A gun-free zone.

We all know nothing bad EVER happens in a gun-free zone!

I look at it like this...you don't carry a gun if you plan to go out drinking. The way I've seen people acting at these events this election cycle they may as well be drunk...therefore probably not thinking straight enough to wield the responsibility that carrying a gun involves. I do think there ought to be ample armed security though.

Maybe they just want their guns there so they can make sure the GOP leadership doesn't try any shenanigans.

I just find it ironic.

During a convention where we should be celebrating our rights, they are being infringed.

Well not really if it's on private property...if it's public property then sure. If you don't own it you don't have any rights there.

ETA: you do have one right...to follow the rules of the owner or gtfo and go somewhere you either control the rules of or go somewhere publicly owned.

.

Still wouldn't matter. Secret Service will not allow firearms at these conventions.

Some people really have big chips on their shoulders don't they.

The Democrat Cleveland police will show their colors in the end.

Just left a thread where an ATS member wished Trump would get "murdered". Can't really blame them when you have the left and social media manipulating people to a level that incites violence at an otherwise peaceful rally.

True.

But like I said, gun-free zones aren't exactly the safest places in the world.

They want their guns there because they are afraid there will be violent protests. Even if there is, that is not justification for using a firearm in and of itself.

As violent as the Bernie supporters are, there should be armed people there.

You need to be armed to celebrate your rights?

Maybe the owner has weighed the risks of a bunch of right wing, paranoid fanatics and banned firearms.

Now now. That's a bit disingenuous. That would be like saying Trump supporters are so stupid they should not be allowed to carry a firearm.

It's simply not true.

No...they are pretty good targets IMO. Which is why if I was involved in that areas Republican party I would probably opt out...but hell any party and any event this cycle seems ripe for violence both ways...everyone should do themselves a favor and stay away all together, plus it sends a strong message to the BS scandalous politicians and party's that we don't care about your rhetoric anymore...frankly we need to look past the usual party lines if we are ever going to become united and strong as a nation again.
