I wish somebody would just fly over that country and drop a bunch of leaflets with pictures of the out side world and explain to the populace [and probably a lot of military personnel] how bad their getting screwed by this clown and see if the peasants don't revolt or the army turns on him. At least it would give them something to think about.

Well, sure but what about our western world, they can do what they want, and even so while we got internet access and know ''everything what's going on'', no meaningful protests or whatever. Perhaps some more complaining and less faith in how things work but still, basically nothing.. I guess we are as powerless as those people living under Kim? So our ''leaders'' can screw us like crazy, over and over and guess what, nothing...

So go vote Clinton or Trump, or before Bush, Obama and believe in change or whatever and support the troops with your bumper stickers... and if you regret later, that's good for you but does it matter? I mean those in power really care about the people/ their country, don't they? Or we just don't really care... we got our entertainment, fast food, movies and whatever... if we care at all... I guess we are in the same boat!!?
Yet we or many don't care if we would nuke that country... but we care about those people I thought!? hmm.

Why is this our "last chance"? Does Kim have some sort of demands we aren't fulfilling?

Not when it comes to nuclear weapon use they don't.

They know what comes as soon as anything is launched at the US or SK, and it won't be pretty.

That already happened though, during the Korean war (Inchon). The US Army was gonna go all the way to the Yalu River, capturing the entire Korean Peninsula, but Mc Arthur was pushed back by the sudden intervention of massed Chinese counter offensive, which eventually resulted in a stalemate and subsequent division of Korea.

That didn't start a wider conflict then, and later, neither did Vietnam. US was the aggressor in both cases, interfering in other super power 'back yards' (the continent of Asia). Considering the occupation of Japan, Philippines and host of Pacific Island chains after WWII, it surely was a perceived threat to the rest of Asia, so far from the Continental US.

The response of the Chinese and Soviets in both Korea and Vietnam were to be expected, the same as recent Russian intervention response to the US backed insurgency in Syria. Like, This far and no further.

The stakes are global domination and how far the US is to be allowed to get away with subjugating more nations. Korea, Vietnam, Cuba and Syria aren't as important to either side as the spread of whichever hegemony you care to call the evil empire, currently.

Yep, but the consumer is what makes China's economy work...the debt they would have to sell and it would have to be to someone willing to buy it.

The money consumers bring in goes right back into the economy one way or another.

China would be hurting if the US took back the jobs that were sent there previously.

Its a good example of how our leaders send the poor, the drop outs, and the brave-hearted patriot boys and girls out to be killed "honorably" by "freeing" Iraq and its poor 99% literate population with the second or third most advanced hospitals in the world and people who may not love their leader but are willing to put up with him. Especially if it means tens of millions dead to put some other rich creep in office who couldn't relate to your average man on the street if his life depended on it.

Then you have Darfur, Rwanda, North Korea, Bahrain...places where people live their entire lives so blinded to what life and the world really is and what they should be free to enjoy...true prisoners not free to live day to day lives or to contemplate a diety other than the living politician they worship from birth or no diety at all....abhorred health care, near 50 percent incarceration rates and we dont go heroically spend the day or two it would require, like desert storm, to remove the cancer and assimilate imprisoned minds into reality. If the hardcore conspiracy theorists call the life we live with much hidden knowledge the Matrix, the NK people sadly are living in a funhouse in the middle of a The Shining sized hedge maze inside a kaleidoscope INSIDE the matrix. Millions of lives wasted and doomed to live cookie cutter subordinate "lives" in an invisible prison with a life sentence. But yea, there's just exponentially more dough to be had installing a US friendly gov in other countries they can get away with pretending aren't "free" (hell nobody is "free" in 2016 unless your name is on a bank) than putting a real gov in power in NK with people who DEFINITELY aren't.

North Korea is suicidal. They are now willing and able to "First Strike" the United States with Nuclear Weapons.

""PYONGYANG — North Korea has warned that it may carry out further nuclear tests and says it is prepared to launch a preemptive strike on the United States if U.S. nuclear forces mobilize against it.

"The U.S. has nuclear weapons off our coast, targeting our country, our capital and our Dear Leader, Kim Jong Un," a top North Korean official, Lee Yong Pil, said in an exclusive interview with NBC News.

A preemptive nuclear strike is not something the U.S. has a monopoly on," he said. "If we see that the U.S. would do it to us, we would do it first. ... We have the technology.""
