Not that I agree with what was said, but who said 'unifying' was a goal?

I only wish to have intelligent debate of ideas not 'unify' anyone.

I liken it to a painting.

If we all agreed, it would be a monochrome pallet, a monochrome world.

We need clashes. Evolution is a change brought about by environmental stresses. The only way anyone grows is through a mental clash of ideas and concepts.

A phoenix can't arise from the ashes if there is never chaos and fire to give it birth.

I think you have a good point here. It's really the mixing of the two that is the problem.

You maybe have a good point. But we've never experience anything closed to a unified vision. Who's to say that it won't work? Unify vision probably will work.

Its been tried by different cultures in different countries by many different names.

Sure you can find monochrome cultures in the Middle East.

Soviet Russia was another attempt at a monochrome culture.

Neither are shining examples, in my opinion.

Politics, I totally understand because it is a lot more than just a private and personal issue. Political decisions have consequences on everyone, thus anyone debating them has some degree of personal investment.

Perfect answer. If all govt policies had opt-in or opt-out clauses, it wouldn't be a big deal. But it's the "winner takes all and makes rules that everyone else must follow" part that gets me involved in it.

That's the perfect answer. If all govt policies had opt-in or opt-out clauses, it wouldn't be a big deal. We could just pick the ones we agree with and ignore the rest, like grocery shopping.
