Ive had enough of everyone pointing out what's wrong with America

That's right I'm sick of hearing it. The reason why were the greatest nation on the planet has nothing to do with our wealth or how smart we are or how good looking. It has everything to do with the fact that we've taken in 61 million immigrants and given them opportunities they couldn't in their own country.

We use our military to try and help the entire world and keep the planet from exploding back into the Stone Age and effectively until the blunder of the Middle East.

We send aid countries and continents across the globe while our own people are starving at home.

We innovate and share our technology with the world.

We do all these things and more and we have a majority of our population is white! So clearly the racist stereotype is complete bull# so let's put that paradigm to rest too.

Anyway feel free to add to the thread because I'm sick of the America bashing and it's about time we stop that nonsense.

Yes I wish Americans would stop bashing their own country it's not good for tourism. You've put me off visiting with all the bashing of liberals and minorities. It seems one half of America hates the other half

Well, if we kicked out all those illegal immigrants -- the companies and people hiring them aren't going to magically hire Americans and pay them what Americans expect to be paid...which is enough to survive on. Illegal immigrants take jobs American's can't afford to take.

Let's face it, the Earth is more than just America. In most of the world, the vast majority of the population lives with a lot less than even the lower middle class of America. Americans want to at least hold onto, if not increase their standard of living -- but companies don't want to dip into their profits to enable that to happen.

Americans can't compete with people around the world willing to work for pennies on the dollar. At the same time, companies need customers in order to continue staying in business. It's a fine balancing act. America is one of, if not the biggest consumer of goods and services in the world -- we are needed customers in a global economy.

So the goal seems to be this:

Squeeze the middle and lower middle class of America as much as possible. Pay the absolute lowest amount of money possible, and yet at the same time leave them with enough to continue buying the crap that's being sold. Sometimes, it's OK to squeeze extra hard (outsourcing?) and force people to begin to live beyond their means by using credit and racking up insane levels of debt. The profits continue to roll in, as people continue to spend money they don't really have but feel like they do.

Eventually though the entire system will collapse, as more money continues to move up and and only a tiny few precious droplets sputter back down. There won't be anyone left with money to buy anything the people on the top are selling.

By this time, however, those at the very tippy-top will already have their aristocratic pleasure domes, secured with robots and fancy AI security systems. They won't need the unwashed masses to buy anything from them anymore. These folks will simply "peace out" leaving the bulk of Earth's population to wallow in squalor. A few, lucky individuals may be picked to work as house servants in these wealthy pleasure domes...but aside from that, abject poverty and rampant disease and crime will be rife within society.

A bleak, dystopian future awaits us if we don't fight back and demand that our value as contributing members of society be acknowledged.

As long as Americans continue to spurt out comments like that,

The response of critisizing America will continue. Exageration and extremes provoke their opposite extremes.

If you've ever known a person who goes around proclaiming they are perfect and the most amazing person on the planet,
watch how all others can only see and comment on every single flaw they have which proves that is false!

If that same person spoke of himself with more balance, more realistic and reasonable ways, as neither perfect nor a loser, just someone with strengths and weaknesses like everyone else, than others around them would be much less critical.

But god knows americans are adverse to moderation and mediocrity - better to be the best at being the worse than "just like everyone else".

You need to recognise that the bulk of this criticism of America (when it appears on ATS) is coming from Americans.
The posting membership of ATS is dominated by Americans, as can be seen from the topic choices, and many of them are dissatisfied with their own government and their own system of government.
So please stop blaming non-Americans for all the "our country is bad" comments.

So , what you are saying is that the US would be a great country if we didnt have obesity ? There would be more obese people in other countries if they quit worrying about the US and started growing their own food with the time and energy that would save them...

Newsflash - likely 95% of the worlds population would love the security, infrastructure standards and standards of living of the lowest 20% of people in the USA

In the last few centuries or so there hasn't been a greatest country imo. Of course there is one the less worse, what other would call the best. But for me "Greatest" has a different meaning then "less worse"

I do not bash nationalities but I chuckle over nationalists. Same goes for races or whatever group one feels like putting their thumbs up their asses to feel the same.

No you didn't. You are the first and only nation to use a atomic weapon on another nation. On at least two occasions the US has narrowly averted worldwide nuclear annihilation that would have blasted us back to the stone ages.

I have no quarrels with the Americans in general, Just the few idiots in your country and the gung ho politicians and military. No country is perfect and there is one word to describe the way your politics and some of your concrete brained civilians are being treated: comeuppance.
