ATS BTS split

Just a thought...

A few have mentioned the decline of substance on ATS over the last couple of years.

Skimming over the threads I see this is not the case. I won't link directly to any but there's some great threads at the moment.

I think the problem is the 'New' page and 'Top' page are diluted with BTS posts and Politics posts. That's what is changing the face of ATS.

Perhaps there is a way to split the BTS from ATS so at a glance there is still the classic ATS mysteries of old at the top, championing the flag for the site?


I'm not against the BTS posts, we all have a laugh in them and we've all made good friends. The politics threads are often a bit crude but whop am I to judge (I just have).

This could make a lot of sense but would like to push it one stage further and seperate politics and current events as well so you had dedicated pages for the 3 distinct areas.

I would not hold your breath though as SO has only just finished a site revamp.

Years ago ATS and BTS were split. Many members never ventured over to the lighter side of things. I prefer it mixed. Too much of one thing in your face can be overwhelming. All about the balance.

BTS hasn't existed for some time - you have two buttons : Conspiracy and on the right of that :Off Topic.
If you click Conspiracy you won't see any of the stuff in Off Topic and vice-versa.

A few years back you had to login to ATS and BTS separately - seriously.
You'd be reading ATS which was the black and gray color and then you'd click onto BTS which was a blueish color and have to enter your login details again.
SO came up with a fix so if you were logged into ATS you could view BTS (which was essentially a separate site, separate address etc) without having to log back in.
It was actually an issue for a while - this new Conspiracy/Off Topic thing is a better way of doing it and keeps the areas/forums separate.

I do miss BTS though.

But in fairness there are so many features on ATS and no guidebook.

I for example have only just discovered that there is a function in the messages to be able to see links to every reply to your posts???

I can only see them as separate forum pages anyhow.

Wouldn't it be great to make a third page combining all religions and politics topics.....

If you go to the "recent" page using the link across the top then it gives you the most recent "ATS" or conspiracy/politics threads.

If you click the "off topic" button then it takes you to all the other recent posts in threads like "general chit chat" "pets" forums ect.
