I find this new background tiling annoying as hell..

Would it be so hard to put a little checkbox on the account settings page with the optional "tile background image", so those of us who only want the one image to appear can turn it off?















My background looks so rubbish now =(

This thread is still funny, even though I'm on my mobile and thus don't see any avatars at all. Just picturing what's going on, and I'm imagining all the people stretching their posts out to (I'm assuming) stretch out their avatars doing a [Tommy Chong Voice] "whoooaaaa, maaaaaaaaaaan, whoooaaaaaaa" and watching the long "trails" their fingers make as they slllooowly wave it across their field of view.

I didn't even know we could have backgrounds lol. I just attempted to add one via photobucket (since ATS uploads isn't currently working it seems - nothing appears on the upload page.) Is it visible?

This thread just goes to show some people will never be satisfied. This isn't a new feature, it existed for a long time before ATS moved over to a div based design from a table based design. Many people complained when the feature was removed. Also the square look isn't new, and personally I actually prefer it over the rounded look, it brings back a more classic vibe of ATS for me.

No complaints from me. Now I just want to have a background because I think they look awesome personally lol. I can't quite figure out how to get one to appear, though. Finally got the ATS Uploads page to load and uploaded a new image, then set its link as my background but... doesn't seem to show up behind my avatar.

I was cutting/pasting picture code in the box instead of clicking on the box above the upload.

I haven't been able to see avatars for quite a while now.

Ive tried everything. ...


Its the same on any browser, any pc and droid for me no matter what.

Ah ha! I finally have a background now.

The way to do it apparently:

Go to uploads
Click on the image
Above it are a series of icons
Mouse of them to see what they are - one says "make this image my mini-background" or some such
Click that

BAM it works! Not sure why just putting the link in the background box in my profile doesn't work, but now I finally have one lol. After 12 years lmao. You'd think I would have realized this was a feature sooner but... like the Kindly Ones in the Sandman comics, "I am renowned for my relentlessness, not my speed." :p Okay I'm not really renowned for that either.
