Powerful 7.9 earthquake strikes off coast of Indonesia – USGS
A powerful and shallow earthquake of magnitude 8.1 struck off the west coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicentre was 808 km (502 miles) southwest of Padang, USGS said. It was 10 km (six miles) deep.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties but the shallower a quake, the more likely it is to cause damage. USGS originally put the magnitude at 8.2.

Seems like this happed in about the same area that the 9.1 of 2004 triggered the tsunami which devastated the area. Hopefully IF there is a tsunami, it won't affect highly populated areas. This did just happen, about an hour ago...so news will be flowing all day on this. No pun intended.
