Trump goes on defense over Mussolini quote, David Duke endorsement

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump was grilled Sunday on his opinion of Italian fascist leader Benito Mussolini and white nationalist David Duke, after both popped up in references to his campaign.

As he goes into a crunch vote in the lead Mr Trump courts controversy over his reaction to support from former Ku Klux Klan leader

Trump would quote Hitler if he though it would gain him access to or notoriety within the press circles to then be reported. Teflon Don can say anything; all press is apparently a good thing even if of outrageous speaking points (morally reprehensible etc).

The billionaire passed on the Mussolini line "It is better to live one day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep" to his millions of followers on social media.

Asked if he wanted to be associated with a fascist, Mr Trump said: "No, I want to be associated with interesting quotes. Hey, it got your attention didn't it?"

Coming from a website here on ATS, that says 'don't be sheep' all the time, I see no problem with the quote. Are we supposed to be sheep and do whatever the establishment wants? Or do we stand for our voice?

I agree with Trump, it is an interesting quote, no matter who said it!

I just have to ask though, isn't it irony in its purest form?

The Trump double standard is amazing. He can quote Mussolini he can refuse to disavow himself from a KKK grand wizard and his believers will make excuses for him.

What happens in that one day he experiences as a lion: murder all of the sheep?

The KKK thing was years ago and it's a non issue in the real world. Just old dirt that didn't stick then and won't now.

Mussolini ripped off that quote. This was first said by Sultan Fateh Ali Khan Shahab 1750-1799

The original quote is " Better to live one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep "

According to libtard logic, this proves Trump is a muslim or fervent supporter of Islam at the very least.

He said he disavowed the support from the KKK guy, it was all over the news when he said that. And he said it in those exact words, so you are picking on nothing.

I didn’t even know he endorsed me. David Duke endorsed me? I disavow, OK,” Trump said.

He doesn't hate Muslims, all he said was that we need to halt immigration from Muslim majority nations (Muslims) until which time as we learn to vet those immigrants. We need time to better learn how to distinguish those who have declared war upon us from those who are pacifists.

This is not hate. During times of war we have placed holds on nations we are at war with, and this is no different. It wont be forever, we just need to hold on immigration until we learn how to distinguish.

Hate is something much different indeed. This serves to protect all Americans within our borders, Muslims included.

The main stream juggernaut is in high gear and will do anything, quote anything, twist anything, as long as it portrays Trump in an unfavorable light (I must admit he needs no help at times doing the unfavorable thing to himself...(maybe he should stop talking so much "off the Cuff"?)..

I could bet if Trump quoted Jesus or Buddha they would accuse him of a god complex even though the saying held truth for many. Anything and everything will be used to disparage Trump by the Hilary machine and even the old guard republicans who want the status quo.

Most people say they want change...Yet when someone comes along who just might really change things the pitchforks come out in full force.. They burnt Ross Perot in the same manner which gave us the lier and chief Clinton which some still idolize to this very day. I just worry that it is all a plan to hand the presidency to Hilary ...

You know, I just can't get behind a candidate when he's being endorsed by so many racists, neo-nazis and KKK types. I'm sorry, I just can't. I don't care of Trump disavows them or not.

I don't want to be associated with those groups/people anyway, and I don't want to put my vote towards a person those racist folks like.

I am no fan of Trump and not even American. In his defence, it is appropriate to quote anyone if it sets a context. Mussolini was not a nice man, but the quote is actually quite good.

I really despair sometimes at so many people's complete inability to think for themselves and moderate response. It seems its always about good or evil. A binary jump to condemn or support. It's nothing short of madness.

An evil person is not always wrong, a saint is not always right.

To be clear though, Trump has clearly disavowed any support from David Duke. Anyone who suggests otherwise is simply a liar.

if trump's first policy is the first born must be sacrificed to the cow god, his minions will find a way to support it.

his jingoistic rhetoric is not changing political viewpoints, its creating a cult.
