A not so angry rant about GENDER. Does it promote Order and Organization? Or an outdated society?

So my teacher for my "College Writing" class decided that spending a week in class learning about current issues was something actually worth teaching about.

I think I was wrong.

One of the many subjects we discussed was gender. No, not feminism but instead how we classify society as either Male or female. I realised that my friends think that if we were to do it any other way it would be dumb and stupid, that it should be just always be Male or Female. That got me thinking.

We live in a confused society, one that changes so goddamn much it can't even remember what the hell it had for lunch literally 5 minutes ago. Everything's changing. Being gay or lesbian is becoming accepted, and someone who used to go by the name Bruce is now Caitlyn. Interesting.

So the golden question is--how do we classify people like Bruce? They obviously don't want to be the gender they we're born with and I personally am okay with that. Now me personally, I'm more Asexual than any kind of sexual . But I don't think it would be right to classify them as the opposite, because they're not. Once again i'm not against it, but it just poses so many issues with the current tide of society. It's like going against the flowing tide. Different.

But imagine a society that passed by the two words Male and Female. Obviously people would still procreate with male parts and female parts. That is just how it works. But a society that separated from these norms would be so different that the ideas of being gay or lesbian don't mean a thing, because there is no man or woman. Just based of who you want to be. BAM, instantly every gender issue solved, because there is no gender.

Don't get too bogged down in all this. People desperate for a label so they can identify with others who are like them.

If a man wants to call himself a women, but then pays about £30,000 to make it happen, I'm not going to agree. He just 'looks' like a woman in that case. He wont have menopause or a period, he wont have a child in his womb or produce milk for a baby.

People get too caught up in this issue and it's a distraction. Who cares what someone else 'wants' to think they are?

Just don't let a man use a womans toilet. That's the bottom line of it all, at least from what I've seen!

I'll say it again as it bears repeating - this is a distraction from very real and very important matter - it causes division on a MASSIVE scale too.

Gender can be thought of in two ways....

Biological and Psychological.

Biologically speaking, you are the gender you were born to, based on the sexual genitalia and reproductive organs you were born with. The combination dictates many facets of our physicality.

Now, obviously, our design is open to flaw...as is the very very very rare case of the hermaphrodite.

Psychologically speaking...the framework is nowhere near as fixed. We are hostage to a maelstrom of chemicals and the whimsical chance of rolling dice known as genetics.

Now...let's look at traditional Men and Women....with regards to "relationships"....

Classically speaking, the Man is supposed to be the ROCK. The stability. The emotional anchor.
Women are supposed to be flighty...prone to emotional upheaval.

Now, let's look at my own relationship with my wife.

Many times, by many friends, some who never knew the other.....have declared that I was the most feminine male they knew. My emotions are raw, and I am *not* good at concealing them. When I love someone, I tell them so. I don't shake hands, I bearhug. When I am upset, you damned well know it. Not temper so much, just....you can feel it.

My wife? She is a rock. I gladly cling to her to weather storms. Where I am one to show my emotion.....full of physical expression and verbal...her? Not so much. It took years to learn that being pat on the head by her was being told "I REALLY love you!!!". And she does. She pats me on the head...and she does really love me.

Why am I baring all of this? Because....

I am a Man.

That is my gender.

I do not need the social "feel good" of Me-Too'isms....btw, I am patenting that...it is pending...Don't take it!!!

I do not need to join the crowd of other "individuals" by proclaiming myself to be "gender fluid"...just like all the others in that same crowd.


What I would wish for the world...would not be a Coke & a Smile...but rather...the guts to be confident in themselves. To not be apologetic. To say "This is who I am, I do not need the supposed solidarity of belonging to feel comfortable within my own skin" outloud...not just in the mirror....but to the world.


We are all different. And yet, we are all the same. Titles don't give me comfort or allow me anything I otherwise wouldn't have been obliged to feel.

Biological sex is our anatomy as female or male. It includes our internal and external sex organs, chromosomes, and hormones.


The new definition of Gender:

Gender is our social and legal status as girls and boys, women and men.

Gender identity is how you feel about and express your gender.


See, one is based in physical reality, one is a social invention based on wishes and feelings.



As for an answer to your question, it creates Chaos and confusion as intended.

No, it's a male with fake or restructured parts to "appear" female. It's genetics are male, it's really very very simple. Anything else is delusional.

Here is the problem - that society cannot exist, not really. Not unless it scrubs that part of your identity away from you for everyday life.

The only way to let everyone have their preferred gender regardless of physical cues would be for there to be some means or process of inquiry at every introduction similar to "This my friend Mr. Jones" where you are expected to link physical face to the name. Only instead, they also add the preferred gender/sex identity. Then we would have to add entire layers to our language to accommodate all those different gender/sex identities and how they interact in grammar with one another. So that you can properly speak about gender/sex identity A in a sentence interacting with gender/sex identity B as opposed to any one of the other possible combinations (remember Facebook has it up to 50).

So the only really viable option is to remove those terms entirely. No one can remember that much language and that many combinations to remember every special snowflake and properly reflect that in a sentence and then shift it depending on which individuals you happen to be talking about.

Oh, and we haven't even begun to get into the grammar involved in groupings yet ...

As an editor and proofreader, I do not even want to begin to imagine the nightmares this would cause someone in my profession!

And honestly, I think we kind of need male/female terminology in our language too.

well people with genetic abnormalities but born a female may also experience those issues. whats the difference?

I always laugh (and mock) people who demand any social issue somehow is a distraction from the stuff they care about...and to make it more amusing, they first participate in said discussion...making themselves a total victim of the horrible distraction.
