A decorated Army sergeant who protected an Afghan boy from a child molester could find out any day whether his actions will end his career in the military.

Sgt. First Class Charles Martland, a Green Beret with an 11-year Special Forces career, was stationed in Afghanistan in 2011 when the boy's mother came to him and said she'd been beaten and her son raped by a local police commander. Martland and another soldier summoned the police official and, when the man laughed at them, threw him off the base. Martland and Daniel Quinn were both disciplined for their actions.

“Charles did the right thing in Afghanistan by standing up to a child rapist and corrupt commander, and now it’s the Army’s turn to do the right thing and reverse the decision to expel him from the service,” said Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., whose office has been assisting Martland. “Permitting Charles to continue serving is in the best interest of the Army and the nation.”

Supporters mounted an online petition backing Martland and separately, 93 members of Congress have called for an investigation into the military's silence in the face of rampant sexual abuse of children in Afghanistan.

I have mentioned this subject in the past concerning this brave man and his duty as a human being and now the US Army will be making their decision if Sgt. First Class Charles Martland, a Green Beret with an 11-year Special Forces career, should be kicked out of the service.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Numerous politicians are supporting this hero which the military have decided to ignore. Here we have a case where a good man does the right thing and now he must worry about his career. I have seen similar cases like this before and many good men kicked out of the service.

I hope this is a learning lesson for those who are considering serving their country.

You could be the next one being kicked out for doing the right thing.

Stop joining the military..... let those fat ass politicians and military officers fight the wars. You need to realize you mean NOTHING to the military services. You are nothing more than a number and a warm body designed to stop a bullet.

This guy is a hero in my book..

These top brass military need to ask themselves 1 question. 'What if it was my child?'
I'm sure they would take a different perspective then.

They shouldn't need to ask themselves "What if it was my child"

They are in a career of 'protection' of people, all people who

cannot defend themselves from 'bullies' and those of stronger physical

stature.

As far as I am concerned, any person who protects a child from rape is a hero.

There is nothing, completely nothing, more abhorrent than abusing innocent child.

Anybody who rapes a child needs bullet in the head and be thrown in the garbage dump and their name banished from the world.

What is this man's official offense?

Also, it is very sad thing, that there is many organised child rape groups. There is the possibility, that this man's superior officers, or whomever, could be involved in such a thing. I ћope it is not so... but else, I can't understand why they are wanting this hero removed?

That's the damn attitude coming from the top.

And it was on a US base, not out in the field somewhere.

Seems a bit like the 'all old boys network' knows no boundaries. I cannot believe this its so appalling, I just wonder at what the personnel involved in this case must think and how others will judge them for their actions if this man suffers the loss of his career. I hope their wives make them suffer.

They have not made a decision yet so you might want to consider using the article title for the thread since the one in use is a bit misleading.

With that said I don't think they should have been disciplined let alone a situation where they may be discharged.

I am with you on this one and it is only rape if a white man does it and to add to that men and boys cannot be raped , it is impossible just like how white people cannot experience racism.

I just hope this goes away for the guy or it gets some serious press, if it doesn't.

Someone should bring it up to trump and Hillary.

LOL!! But I'll bet the *human rights* of your 'emergencies' do not

outstrip the human rights of any potential 'victim' of yours?

He's not a hero. Accomplishing a heroic act doesn't make someone a hero. Read some greek mythology and find out what a hero actually is! Perhaps in a few months or years he will become a real hero.

On topic: It's pretty frightening that they are trying to punish this man for trying to help another person (specifically a kid)!

Makes me wonder if similar things like this happened before, but never got out to the public.
