Mystery black rain hits Michigan town: Tar-like substance falls from the sky and leaves residents bewildered as it covers cars, porches and driveways
The black, oily substance first appeared on at least six driveways in Harrison Township, Michigan, on Sunday
The mystery substance was seen on resident's roofs, cars and porches
Michigan Department of Environmental Quality officials collected samples of the substance on Wednesday
Residents originally believed that the substance could have come from the nearby Selfridge Air National Guard Base
The airbase released a statement saying it was not coming from their area
It could be at least a week before the city discovers what the substance is

Thought this article was interesting. Local military base claims it's unrelated to their activities, but town still has no answer as to what has fallen from their skies.

No idea personally what it could be, but would be a bit nervous if it fell on my home.

Are there incinerators in the area? Ash from incinerators used to burn asphaltic compounds like those used in roofing shingles or felt paper can cause a 'fallout' similar to the ones in those photos.

Charles Fort wrote about this sort of thing decades ago. Nothing new to see here, folks, move along, move along...

Very common, Its Just State officials taking a $h1t on its people.

HUMMM!! I'm in Southwest MI and about an hour ago I fired the motor home up and it's generator and notice the water running off the roof was making the snow black?? I'm going out for another look. Now the rain and snow is pretty bad here because it comes from Chicago so it could be normal.
