Affirmation action gives opportunity - - not Equality.

No it strips opportunity, by forcing racially motivated quotas. So a minority even though less qualified, maybe even unable to perform the job, gets it instead of a qualified person of the " wrong" race.

There are X amount of opportunities in the country, if you force some to be given based solely on race, they must be stripped from deserving majority citizens based on their race.

This is the exact opposite of equality.

You see, equality means we are all treated equally.

That means nobody gets pandered to, that means we all have the same rights and privileges.

Only if society treats you equally. It doesn't.

Just being born a white male puts you at the front of the line - - without any other causation.

I am a white male, I have never been in any trouble, I went to college, I have a great work history, I never call in, I work my butt off every single day.

I am poor, I don't own anything, and I don't qualify for a single social program.

I got my money back on a scratch off, if that isn't proof positive of my privilege I don't know what is.

It's true fortifications and walls don't stop INVADING armies. they make strategic and tactical plans to get by it.

If illegal immigrants are an invading army then we would declare war. They are just people. They are not going to run organized manuevers to bypass and blow holes into the wall with explosives.

Do I really need to post the 100's of government buildings with fence around them? And many of them gasp...have ID checkpoints.

Fences create a detterent making only the most daring to attempt to get by it. That is the point of a fence, a detterent. Increasing the difficulty and risk decreases the people who will try.

Police patrols do not stop crime but they do act as a deterrent. speed traps do not catch that many people but they act as a deterrent. the traps keeps keep overall speeds down as there is always the risk an LEO is right around the corner.
