I'm sure armed forces of the western countries..Europe, USA etc. would have stuff analogous to this and would have certain experience in using hanheld comps in the battlefield...My question is to what extent do these devices actually boost capability..??
Also is China coming upwith/inducting stuff like this?
Also is there any scope for comparing the indigenous chinese GPS and the Russian GNPS..?

It just seems like a quick way to locate your comrades on the battle field rather than "walkie talkie" even tho it probably is rather expensive. who know's maybe it has some sort of cool bonus features, like it shoots ray beams at people or beeps erratically when a suicide bomber is nearby? who know's?

hehe..those suicide bombers are quite a problem...the text says the device goes 'blank' when it falls into enemy hands...I wonder how it identifies enemies??
Needs to be pretty high tech to do that...

I donot have pictures right now, but I swear I saw plenty of pictures about Chinese military laptops years ago, I even remembered that some guys have been aruging about the that type of laptop for a while.

Indian friend, I have to tell you I saw that at least 4 or 5 years ago.
And, before you try to suspect my information, please question your logic at first if you know Levono (Legend) just bought IBM PC department, and Chinese is the second largest computer manufactuer AND the market, both desktop and laptop., from flat screen to hardwares in the extreme environment--------Which means you will be really dump if you think China cannot produce those things for military usage.

At the same time, I doube whether our indian friend bought those things from Russia or from other coutries. By the way, can you guys really produce computers except doing call center software for American?. Our second generation CPU (dragon CPU) has been 2.0GHz already. just few steps to catch up with the fastest CPU. Our semiconductor industry will soon be largest in 2 years. By the way, do you know AMD just signed huge alliance R&D contract with China?

So, donot even try to ask, my idian friend, whether we have it or not.

I wouldnt really go judge stuff by look, just watch over russian stuff.
That Chinese stuff is probably mostly adapted from commercial markets, but doesnt make em any worse, in fact theres lot of stuff on commercial market that would save big money from armys atm. For example EMP risk is rather small and if your nuked that EMP protection wont much of help on field equipment.

That second last picture really have some buttons like some scifi flick setup.

Yeah, better than your guys yelling " the elimis are veli veli tuf".

Also, I am curious which hand you will use to touch the computer keyboard--------since one of your hands is used to clean sh*t, do you use just one hand to type on the key board like you just use one hand to eat?

Damn, if it is not, I will never touch any keyboard that any indian has ever touched.

You want to make the thread to become the old fashion like what we did before, go ahead, I have lots to post for my indian friend.

just one little fact: our military budget is 3 times the size of that of india while both countries have similar purchasing power. India purchases from abroad a lot more proportionally than china and china' military is slightly larger than that of india.

In other words, we spend a lot more per soldier than india does.

Daedalus, I don't understand why you must report every Indian project as if it is earth-shattering and deserving of a new thread. There is such a thing as over-exposure. Surely all this can be limited to one Indian defense thread if you are so inclined?

proteinx, enough of your random BS flaming. If you have nothing to contribute to the thread except your own insecurities and ignorance, then please leave. You do injustice to your fellow countymen. I suggest that people do not even dignify obvious trolls with a response.

Anyway, here are some pics of Sathi:

I don't quite think your 'per soldier' expense matchs up..because the Indian army is quite smaller than the chinese army..so maybe per soldier expenditure evens that out..

Would you impose the same restriction on U.S. defense items? I don't think you can really do this for any country. A discussion on rifles needs a different thread than a discussion on missiles. It's just easier when you don't mix subjects in the same thread.

That Sathi looks like some old generation (size) version of GPS tracking system, added in network with own troop placements, so i dont think those even cost much for India as from shop you get good GPS tracker for 200-400€, plus those are much smaller and can give some serious data. I think that one gives too just scroll more buttons. I wonder how that thing is safe, "disables itself when in enemy hands" i doubt about it. So that goes for that you cant really show all the troop movements for every one of those or you make everyone targets for artillery etc. I dont believe that system is safe enough in war vs other technological country.

Personally tested lately commercial GPS tracker and those things doesnt really miss a thing i mean high speed etc. still showing real facts and numbers. Its nice to know how high above sea your and all nonsense.
