I've seen some 'crazy stuff' quite without leaving my body. I've also had OBEs on occasion, but not upon my command. They were unexpected events, usually 'visits', sometimes awake, sometimes from stress or in dreams.

I think people like to claim they do it on command, but the reality might be more subjective to external influences.

Astral projection = Imagination, period. End of story. One simply creates the images, feelings, and experiences in the minds eye, and if you have a belief system that entertains the notion of demons 'existing', then your imagination will conform to your level of understanding.

a reply to: NarcolepticBuddha When others see you outside your body, you realise that statement is false. I was shaking hands with my buddy in 1977, and we were patting each other on the shoulder, and exclaiming "Its all true! We are spirits in this animal body!" Its like people who do not believe in the spirit world, then see one, and everyone in the room and the dogs see it too. Thats when all those previous beliefs go right out the window.
Yes I would be careful about leaving your body if you have a choice. There are other spirit beings (assorted types), and some are not very nice

Yea I feel you. I m at the moment on some tests. I have increase my vivid dreaming by a lot. I consume some home made stuff that makes me dream amazing and weird stuff.

When I'm done with tests I will write thus stuff down.

It will be in 2 months app.

As you see I don't believe in crap, so if my tests show positive it could be real deal.

The people who say astral projection is dangerous or evil have been misguided or are trying to misguide people away from practicing AP.

It is not evil. It is not bad. If anything, it is healthy and mind expanding.

The thing you have to realize about the astral realm is that everything you experience is created by your own consciousness.

If your are afraid, you will manifest something in that reality to chase you, or attack you, or scare you somehow. It could be what people would call a demon ( demons are just a projection of your consciousness), you could manifest an earthquake that destroys your world, or a tsunami or an alien attack, really anything. You can also stop these from happening by just knowing that you are in complete control of your reality.

You can manifest good experiences or beings as well. It all depends on what state of mind you are in. Main thing you need to remember is do not be afraid and that you have complete power.

as for how you feel afterwards. After the first time I did it i was mind blown that it was actually real and I thought, why the hell doesn't anyone know about this, how is this not taught in school or on the front page of every news paper?
Physically it feels like you woke up from a nap, sometimes you can be tired, sometimes you will have more energy.

Good luck out there!

So you asked for a genuine first step without all the pre mystical crap?

The first step is learning how to lucidly dream. It's more than possible for most.

Learning how does tend to make one unconsciously slip to there however which is disconcerting.

My personal warning, playing with these techniques brought on long spells with no night dreaming.... followed by waking dream states.

Mental plasticity is cool and all but yeah caution is advised.

Cheers!

There are dozens of books and websites on how to astrally project, but the most important aspect, for me at least, was the simple realization (on a deep level rather than simply an intellectual notion) that it is possible, and natural, and has been a survival tool for humanity since the dawn of time.

After that, my best results are nearly always in states of high fatigue and relaxation. The body is crying out for sleep, but the mind is still active. So the body drifts off, the primary mind goes into a normal sleep cycle but the projection is already "less attached." You realize that you're not tired at all.
Heavy buzzing or droning sensation, almost a deep throbbing hum in the chest. That's the first stage.
For me, it's followed by an act of will. Try and move your hands and there will be resistance and then release. That's the exit point. From there, do what you want to do; give a firm instruction of where you want to go or just leave under your own power.
I'll include two bits of advice from Robert Bruce for a good trip:
1: Don't hang around to watch your physical body for too long; this can create a kind of weird feedback which seems to be the cause for many night terror experiences. Move away from your body if you start to get fearful; returning is a simple mental command, you'll never get lost on the way or anything like that.
2: Keep your trips under ten minutes. You'll find that the transition between an astral voyage and "real life" is somewhat seamless because the part of you that wanders is as conscious and aware as the "normal" you. Get up straight away and either write down your experience or reflect on it, focusing on the details. Some things may not make sense and may have dream-like qualities; I put that down to the merging of the memories of the projected part of the mind and the physical dreaming part. But largely, one of the defining elements of an astral trip is the realness of the experience which is not overridden by some emotional context like in a dream.

From my point of view:

I do not think it is the whole answer to say it is only imagination but I do agree with the 2nd point.

Since Astral Projection is connected to psychic abilities I would assume that the information gathered would be subjectively colored when the information is rising from the unconscious to the conscious awareness if the person cannot become a totally objective observer/awareness. Just like psychic information it can be spot on like any synchronicity and verified by other sharing the information exchange. A wormhole quantum phenomena that can be explained by entanglement.

I do not do Astral Project myself at all but get stuck in body vibration mode.

Just because the information can be degraded do not mean there was not something real:

This state I think I know but instead of leaving my body I vibrate too much and after a while it gets too annoying and I abort to the normal low level vibration that feel good and relaxing in my body.

I just have not been able to separate
. One of these day I probably will succeed.

When it becomes 'fun' is after your normal state ends in rebuilding your body functions. At about 3AM the astral traveling begins. You can taste food/have sex, incur pain. What is the point; to learn another group of lessons not available in the third dimension wildly different with new rules of combat (awareness); meaning this: experience an alternative reality while still alive on Earth. When good at this can actually manage the experience; ask those around you "where am I, what is this place" without fear of the circumstance. You would be surprised at the answers; "Oh, its one of those out of body people". At this point on your own (as they find this interesting and will not help you) as you are lesson seeking.

I've gotten out a couple times, I think. The air pressure/gravity was so intense I got to the floor and couldn't stand, just on my knees trying to stand like would be imagined if trying to stand on jupiter. can't understand why.

usually my heart starts racing when my the vibes get going real good and keeps me at home

The first step is learning how to lucidly dream. It's more than possible for most.

'Dreaming' or unconscious states remain subjective. I prefer to let dreams 'go where they take me', only intervening if I can't handle it, like waking up for instance.

Imposing my will or desire on my dream states is like directing a class instead of listening to the teacher, imo. So I don't try and impose unless I need to.

If I am fighting a demon in underground caverns, I am able to blast them with searing bolts of energy from the weapon I just proposed to have in my hands, if I find I am falling from a great height and I am about to die… I wake up.

That kind of thing.

Thanks for the lucid dreaming reminder. Ever read, Carlos Castaneda?

Very nicely explained, thank you. I agree with the fatigue and exhaustion aspect. When we are closer to death from exhaustion, the boundary between this world and that kind of blurs, more readily we 'see' over there.

Thats one way of nearly dying, I guess. Not sure I would want to make a 'habit' of that.

The first poster's take on this pretty well matches my take, however with my initial astral projections it seemed to just happen and not be willed, but having said that, I am highly psychic and have recently stopped ignoring this side of me, so I opened the flood gates.

The last astral projection, I willed to happen. A skeptic asked me to prove it and so I willed my spirit to visit his spirit whereupon I blew air onto his face, as an additional way of proving not only spirit body travel but spirit body as matter (spooky quantum matter) and received a shocked response from him.

I felt somewhat rueful to inflict such a shocked reality check because I attributed it to my ego being brused by his harsh skepticism, but in speaking with a close spiritual friend, she felt that he needed that jolt/proof to move forward - and he did ask for it.

So, intent is everything and try to keep your ego in control.

Jumping in here. I am whats referred to as a "leaper". I can jump into travel in a heartbeat. In my younger years (the 1970's) it scared the hell out of me, but I learned to control it. I can astral travel within 30 seconds or so..and direct my destination...or let it take me where it wants.

My issue over the years has been how to control it so I DONT leap so fast.

Thanks
