My blood doesn't boil often but scanning the news today lit the fuse.
This isn't a rant against the fine people of the US but your interfering warmongering government , it started with an article concerning US defence secretary Ash Carter extolling the virtues and benefits Trident brings the UK , Trident makes us a world player and allows us to "continue to play that outsized role on the global stage that it does because of its moral standing and its historical standing"

Perhaps some of us are sick of playing an "outsized role" and all the "benefits" that has brought us over the last decade or so , some of us see spending up to £100 billion on US hardware that we will never use or fully control as a bit of a folly and believe the money would be better spent on our existing cash strapped forces , perhaps we could have some planes to put on our shiny new aircraft carriers , Keep your nose out Mr Carter.

The second bit of helpful advice came from US Secretary of State John Kerry no less , fearing America's puppy dog may leave the EU he has wadded in to stress the importance of the UK's continued participation in the fatally flawed experiment saying the US has a "profound interest in a strong UK staying in a very strong EU" , well Mr Kerry I have a profound interest in doing what is best for my country and from the evidence I've seen EU membership is not that.

Speaking in Germany, he said many Europeans felt "overwhelmed" by recent challenges but the US was confident Europe would "emerge stronger".

Thanks for the confidence John but they are just words , if you are truly confident that Europe will "emerge stronger" then you Sir are in the minority.

"Here again however, I want to express the confidence of President Obama and all of us in America that, just as it has so many times before, Europe is going to emerge stronger than ever, provided it stays united and builds common responses to these challenges,"
www.bbc.co.uk...

So Mr Obama , Kerry and Carter get your own house in order before lecturing others and keep your big fat noses out of our business.
No to Trident.
No to the EU.
Yes to a stronger independent Britain.

USA wants the UK to stay in the EU?

Just one more reason to vote out

Can you imagine if a one world government ever gets implemented? Think it is bad now not having a say?

I totally agree gortex. Abolish NATO too!

We in the US need to focus on our own house. We are still living under articles and provisions from 1945.

The vast military complex is a self feeding abomination, while necessary in 1945, that has failed to adapt to our times.

Pull our troops home, insure security IN THE US, and let other Countries decide their own fates.

The monster is to big now to ever reign in. I fear the only means that will change the status quo now will be war and a one world government emerging as the dust settles.

ETA video. To bad this speech was largely ignored.
Although he did say it required an "alert and knowledgeable citizenry". So I guess we are screwed.

David Cameron's latest speech/plea for the voters to stay in the

EU. and that he is confident they will vote to stay in was thin

gruel to say the least!

Full of driving passion and belief ....NOT

Sounded and looked more like he was reading from his shopping

list.

Cant see how he can convince anyone

I think that was how the EU wanted to come out as. Spreading out and

devouring everything in its path.

All it proved is that *one size doesn't fit ALL*

When the leaders get to head their own particular countries it goes to

their head and its then not enough .... the want to lead the world!!

POWER CORRUPTS! is very true....

Exactly, yet some imagine a utopia under a one world government. Whoever runs it will ALWAYS want more power.

The 'political elite' are constantly trying to shove diversity down

our throats. However they don't seem to realise that, that very

diversity is what causes all the conflicts.

Life chugs along nicely enjoying diversity .... as long as it is not

constantly shoved in our faces.

Excellent rant my good man

I couldn't agree more, let's get the hell out of the EU, and deal with our own issues rather than some euro bureaucrat, that has no idea what we need.

And yes, let's spend OUR money on OUR nation

Bravo

Cody

This is true but it is still interference , especially with Carter bringing the so called "special relationship" in to it.

He said Trident aided the UK's "special relationship" with the US

So what , no more Trident would damage the mythical special relationship ?

The intention is clear in both men's speeches and aimed at those on the fence on both issues.

War Pigs are gonna war pig because, you know, terrorists and Putin and Nth Korea and other such bogeymen.

This keeps the citizens paying taxes for murder/death/kill - there is no perpetual government reign with peace.

Just a point of fact that might make you feel a bit better. Practically speaking, no one with semblance of intelligence in the US pays any attention whatsoever to anything Kerry or Carter says. Kerry is delusional and believes his own lies. Carter is a washed up has-been wannabe who never quite made it. With that in mind, I doubt the Pols in the UK take these ash clowns seriously or pay any attention to them.

I disagree , in the case of the EU exit referendum the words of John Kerry will be used by fear mongers to show that if we leave our standing with America will be diminished , same with Carter , if we don't give them our money our standing with America will again be diminished.
Most people in this country wouldn't know who they are if you just gave their name but they do Recognise the terms US defence secretary and US Secretary of State so their words do have gravity.

We will renew Trident , I have no doubt about that , but these kind of interventions really rub me up the wrong way.

Your rant is both valid and ironic. Yes the connection is strong between the two at the top. Yes, you end up with toys that are questionable, at best. Yet that connection works both ways and
is seen as far more negative in results for the U.S. than the U.K.. After all, it's that 'connection' that continued the elitist control....well, 'influence' over the U.S..

To this day the U.K. IS an international player and trouble maker...

The people you quote won't hold office in a year or so and while major change is unlikely, both your citizens and ours have a say in the direction we take.

Also, one could argue which has the bigger internal mess to clean up. Either way cleaning up one own house is the quicker solution than citing a foreign politician....

Totally agree.

Will it damage our 'Special' relationship with the U.S if we don't renew Trident or vote to leave the E.U?

Any chance of being kicked out of NATO, whilst we're at it?

To be honest I'm on split mind when it comes to trident.

Part of me doesn't like the idea of haveing nukes.

But other half doesn't like the idea of being without them when people like Putin and little Kim have them pointed at us.

Haven't heard compelling arguments from either side of the debate.

That's where the benefit of being a member of NATO comes in , we already have Nuclear protection as an attack on one member is an attack on all.
