You're right and it's not only in the US. This electoral system is part of everything else, part of the world of ignorance in which we live. Politicians have just become a product that has to be sold just like any other product under capitalism. Capitalism doesn't need us to be rational humans, but it needs us to be emotional animals, otherwise we would just buy what we need and the productivist system would collapse. They need to infantilize us in every way possible, they want immature children that they can condition and manipulate. It is manipulation of the worst kind because it touches on our deepest instincts, desires and fears.

But I compare this emotional mess with the rationality that reigns in hard science, and I see a glimmer of hope in the horizon. At one point we will massively understand that we can't go on like this, we will see our retarder ways, our backwards functioning in so may domains.

Whats really despicable is the whole electoral college and super-delegate scam. The popular vote can be tossed aside at the whims of the major parties.

Excellent-ly well said!!

S&F for you!

I agree with every word you have posted in your OP. You are precisely on the mark, the whole process has become a charade of epic proportion. The truly sad part is, the fate of the free world hangs in the balance. It is sad, disgusting and infuriating. Plus, there seems to be no end in sight.

It's all about money, everything else is secondary. Those who have it are allowed to play, those who don't are not...issues be damned. They will say anything to get elected, with absolutely no intention of following through on the promises they make. They know they can buy the media ultimately with all manner of quid pro quo backroom arrangements.

It's perverted, corrupt and twisted. No good comes from the present arrangement.

Yes indeed. Think about the process.

The US isn't a democracy at all. No citizen ever votes on federal issues. We are supposed to be a representative republic in which we elect leaders to represent us within the federal government, and even that is taken away when the popular vote means nothing. The electoral college and the super delegates are who decide what direction the ship is being steered.

Yet because our media continues to call NH a huge victory for Sanders, for example, the nation remains in the dark because they neglect to mention that the delegates are what matters.

Why does the media fo this? What better way to give us the impression of choice, than to ignore the fact that we don't?

Politics is WWE style wrestling for intellectuals and/or people who believe themselves to be so.

It is all preordained. It is a show to maintain the illusion of choice. The theatrics serve to maintain the belief within the people that we can choose our "representatives". Keep in mind that we do not have a choice. We will see Bush vs Hillary, with Hillary being crowned our president.
