Hi

I understand this is a random thread and a bit pointless as the only advice I should take is that from a medical professional.
However after being seen yesterday I didn't really get any answers.

Basically around 2 years ago I noticed a small lump almost centre on my forehead. It literally appeared over night or maybe I didn't notice it grow.
Ever since I have been having bad headaches almost like a migrane. They can get so bad I need to block out any light and helps when I put pressure on random places on my head eg cheekbones, temple, top of head and forehead.

Finally I decided to have it checked by my GP. He said he didn't know what it was. He then brought my attention to a scar right on the top of it. He suggested this had caused it.
I have never had a cut or injury to that part of my head. I asked my dad about this and if I'd hurt it when I was a child. He said no and pointed to a scar on his forehead. He had the exact same lump in the exact same place. He had it removed a few years back. They had said they think it was fatty tissue.

So if possible does anyone know what it could be?

I find it very weird how myself and father have the exact same growth.

Is it a grow th? Or maybe an implant (I have to keep an open mind)

Occam's Razor: If your dad had exactly the same thing, and it was fatty tissue, I'm thinking maybe it's a genetic thing where your body produces fatty tissue on your forehead.

Scar tissue or maybe a callous on your forehead from the many times you either face palmed yourself or slammed your face into your desk from frustrations....maybe even a buildup from your dreaming of being a woodpecker as you hit your head on your headboard of your bed? LOL

It may have been passing out from all the alcohol you drank the night before. J/K. I agree with Slap Monkey. Especially if your dad had the same thing.

Find another Doctor if it gets any bigger or changes in appearance.

I've heard of people getting shot in the head with a bb gun or even a real one and not realizing it. The bb gets lodged under the skin. In the case of the bullet, it deflects off the skull and travels between skin and bone and comes to rest.

In your case though, I'd say it's something that's inherited. Somebody mentioned a cyst. That might be it.

I think it may be something benign, if its on the forehead it probably not touching the brain, but maybe some nerves causing the head aches.

Go see another doctor for a second opinion. I had a fatty tissue lump removed on the back of my head, I was out in 3 hours!

It has to be an implant, otherwise spend a few dollars and get a specialist to look at it.

Could be a lipoma.

I had one on my outer thigh a few years back. It just appeared from nowhere, grew to the size of a golfball, and very, very painful to even touch.

Then it just went.

Mysterious things.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm thinking it's just fatty tissue. But the scar on it was pretty weird. Added to either an overactive imagination or being followed by paranormal events all my life.

I almost got a stiff one on the chin after suggesting to my dad that d*ck heads run in the family. But he got his crap sense of humour from me....or the other way around.

I just hope it's not like Eddie out of national lampoon christmas vacation......"when I turn on the microwave I pass out and piss my pants"

Thanks

Have you got it checked out? I would, some lumps and scars are actual forms of skin cancer.

a scar on the forehad could be from something as mundane as chicken pox, which no one would really remember.

That's true. When in my 30's I cut the end of my thumb off on a table saw and the hospital found a bb when they x-rayed. A friend shot me when I was a kid...Shooting playing cards out of each others hands - he wasn't that great a shot.

I guess he wasn't. What a way to find out about the bb. Did they reattach the part that was cut off?
