The American people should be very afraid of people like this.

To be quite honest, I'm afraid of ALL of them.

Thanks to the OP for posting this story.

Those of us who've been following this entire circus around the country already know this - many of us right here have been discussing it and there are dozens of threads and hundreds of posts about it.

CRUZ IS A DOMINIONIST.
Was raised to be not just a Dominionist, but "the messiah."
Frankly I'm disappointed that that there still seem to be people who are unaware of this, and frustrated that so many here are "just now knowing this" - and mostly irritated that some are still denying it.

Active Theocrats: The New Apostolic Reformation and The Seven Mountain Domionists (links to their websites and more info can be found in this old thread)

Many of us have known this for a while now - and it's certainly not "news" that he is one of those nutjobs....but I'm very, very pleased to see that some more members are finally paying attention to it.

But, enough of me pouting about those of us who have been saying this being ignored and ridiculed...

now, what I'd like to know is:
Where does the adjective "FATHER" fit into his list of priorities?

I'd say I am a American who is a Christian.*
*As opposed to being a American Muslim, Jew, Scientologist etc...

Ex: American who is of the (blank) faith.

Christian Fundamentalists in general have been building a Theocratic base for quite sometime now. A lot of this playing victim and Sharia Law hype is from them, it's their media front. There's huge amounts of money being funneled into it too, private, state and federal dollars... the latter two should never happen.

Not to mention the Religious Right organizations that are pushing for pastors to get more politically involved - Cruz is very closely connected to them as well.

Just in case anyone newly aware of this stuff and appropriately alarmed: here is more info: Here is a link to ongoing coverage of this .... this....person.

Almost everyone on Capitol Hill who knows him dislikes him. He is the one who shut down the government - he is an upstart single-minded megalomaniac. That anyone thinks he'd be respected by world leaders or our own country's congress or that his lunatic, fundamentalist policies/proposals would hold up in the SCOTUS is beyond me.

I personally can't stand to look at the guy - his voice grates my nerves - but I know lots of people feel that way about Obama (I'm not one of them). Trump is entertainingly bizarre, a unique candidate indeed - but even he I can stand to look at and to hear.

Paul Ryan? Please. Boehner was bad enough.
These guys, these GOP guys are just - well, in my opinion - jerks.

You are right Kali, it started since the 70s, but it took a big push during the Regan years, but the problem is that while they have the money to advance now, US have become so divided that is difficult to advance any more the fundamentalist agenda, people do not like very much to be told how they should worship this days.

Cruz: 'Washington establishment' backs Trump, has abandoned Rubio

“I’m a Christian first, American second, conservative third and Republican fourth,” said Cruz, who is currently a distant second place, behind Trump, for the GOP nomination in several national polls. “I’ll tell ya, there are a whole lot of people in this country that feel exactly the same way.”

So...if you haven't guessed, Ted Cruz has basically stated that his belief would take precedence over the law. If you want a theocracy, I think I know your candidate. Oh...but watch out for that scary Sharia stuff.

the guy mis-stated his position...

he should have claimed to be equal parts...Christian-American-Conservative-Republican
I think his objective was to present himself in the best light for the upcoming primary decisions in a very religion focused constituency... his publicist &/or campaign manager should have coached him better than to spew out fluff like 'my-personality-is-like- 1,2,3.4'

if that's the best he has to offer then we know he's going to shoot-himself-in-the-foot.....forever !

Never noticed it.

It does annoy me when people in interviews start their answers with "So," however.
Not that it's on topic.....

Cruz is a walking and talking example of "smarmy" and "sleazy" and other words denoting such nauseating people.

As in: "Eww!"

So, I agree that Cruz has a very smackable face.

ew no - I'm not going to watch that. I'd rather NOT notice it, if you please.
So, this reminds me of a story I heard recently on NPR about how young women are being ridiculed for the way they speak - either ending with a "growl" or a "question" tone.

edit on 1/23/2016 by BuzzyWigs because: So, you are such a smartass. Yeah. Get back on topic, Gus.

"Do unto others as you would have done unto you." or something like that....
so, how would you like to be tortured today?
seriously, because the last "christian" dominionist that was in the presidency declared a crusade and well, implicated us all in the international crime of torture, with many of the far right of the republican party supporting at every turn, all the while claiming to be christians. So, I can only guess that at least some people on ATS would just love to be water boarded today, or stripped down naked and force to pose in some sexually provocative positions so we can take pictures and pass them around to our friends in the media.

After bush, I wouldn't vote anyone I knew to be a dominionist christian into any public office, not even as a dog catcher. Bush has convinced me that they they think that they are above that golden rule that many christians live by, and they haven't let those fruits of the spirit manifest in their lives:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Galatians 5:22-23.

if your religious doctrine forces you to act against these fruits, then there is something wrong with your doctrine and carrying it into the gov't is only going to strip us of those fruits.
no thanks!!!

It's mickey mouse for me.....again.... ain't no one running worth a crap, except maybe sanders and well, I am sure if I spent the time looking into him, I'd find a reason not to vote for him to. but hey if you are all for crusades, torture, stripping away the safety net for the poor to fund never ending war and destruction, coddling the rich and the wealthy, and shredding our constitution, well, cruz it the man for you!!!

Nah.
Do it! Spend the time, look into him, and then come back and let us know ----

IMO, he's the only worthwhile person running.

This is why I want Trump to win the republican primary. Trump at least knows how to run a successful business, also when right wing radicals call him a rhino, I see it as a good thing. Cruz is an evil religious nut bag.

Oh please notice that something is wrong with the republican party when these 2 are your top candidates.

Interesting...for under new guidelines the view of being Christian before American will label you as a Terrorist. Beware, be sure of your Relationship with Jesus as supposedly the religion of Christianity.

I wouldn't worry about it. Cruz has about much chance of winning anything as Elmer Fudd.

Of course, its all cool to hate on the Cruz supporters..........if you can find any.

Yup. The GOP sure isn't looking good these days. Their only saving grace is Rand Paul but as par the course, they and their supporters don't respect him. They'd rather have lunatics run the show.

The Bible commands Christians to obey the temporal authorities, pay their taxes, etc. As with other issues, some Christians like to ignore these facts. So, if we were talking of a Christian trying to follow the dictates of the Bible (along with the unicorns), I have no issue with them ... until they try to take away my Constitutional rights or impose their fantasies on me.

Aside from that, a person's identity arises from many individual aspects ... anyone who defines themselves merely in terms of their "religion" or their "nationality" is already pretty much an idiot in my book.

My God is bigger than your god. And your god doesn’t get any First Amendment protections because, well, it really isn’t a religion in the first place, is it?
It’s a cult. Cults aren’t protected.
All that license under ever law written by money whores to lie, steal, embezzle, blackmail, extort, poison, torture, enslave, murder.
