Wonder if these bleeding hearts have anything to say about how NBA scouts don't go to religious schools in fly over states.

Get over it. There are over 4000 schools in this country, silicon valley isn't going to go to every single one of them to look for coders. Also, forget the fact that many colleges have better programming education than others. Why would Silicon Valley go to Jones County Tennessee Community College (I made that up to paint a picture) to hire a programmer for a Fortune 500 companies new software when they can go somewhere like MIT?

If you consider the ratio of race versus coding skill versus total population
of a race, then the number of minority and female programmers are small
compared to the total number of white male programmers.

Some are claiming that women are superior to men at coding with a single
study is ridiculous. To determine that would require double blind studies
with a large sample population for the results to be meaningful.

I'd like to see all grade school students begin at an early stage a strict
indoctrination into the educational methods that allow a student to
succeed. But that wouldn't be easy as teachers must deal with 10's and
100's of students. Children, Borg, would be raised by the state to
reduce the variability in personality introduced by their family and
they would attend elite schools.

Why doesn't the NBA recruit white basketball players? Seriously.

The market will adjust to this.

If they hire under-qualified coders over qualified coders they are only hurting their own productivity.

A competing company can just hire coders based on qualifications, specialization and skill-set portfolio.

The competing company will be at a distinct advantage over the company that discriminates.

I am studying computer programming because my career requires it. I won't be able to write the types of applications without it. What languages you use is based on the platform and type of application you are making.
Sometimes you want speed(C/C++/Assembly) sometimes you want ease of use(Visual Basic,Python,C#) Sometimes you want portability/cross platform support(Java,JavaScript)
In my case its video games. So I want speed, versatility and power(C,C++).

Could it possibly be, that not many African American college grads want to code in silicone valley. At least that is what my first thought is. What is the percentage of African American grads that are computer programers/ coders?

Coding overall is not a very well marketed career choice. It pays very well, can be used in multiple industries, and is hard to outsource(if you have a specialized skillset).

It just isn't promoted in the media. How many black, latino, and female programmers do you see on TV?

How many young white/asian/indian male programmers do you see on TV?
