The premise of this thread was an article featuring a story about a police officer recommending that any protesters marching in the street, be mown down willy nilly by all and sundry.

Let's not have any distractions and detours eh? A bit of intellectual honesty perhaps? In this case, the motivations of the OP are not nearly as concerning as the motivations of the police officer in the story. Let's face it, the OP is not an authority figure. The policeman in question is.

Now, these idiots could try and sue you in civil court, but remember that it will be jury trial and so most likely it will come out in your favor.

Your comparisons are unsettling.

There is a difference between being a police officer, and posting on social media - honestly, forget it.

Remember, folks - whenever LEO's make comments and suggest how to break the law, it's all good!

Self defense is not breaking the law.

Stating to exercise your rights for self defense is not breaking the law.

Pointing out that you will not be ticketed is the problem. The people exercising self defense should still get ticketed and then get exonerated in court for proving self defense or the prosecutor may refuse to charge with witnesses in the car and evidence of mob violence at the scene.

If you are going to be part of a violent mob, you made your own bed, no sympathy for unlawful violence.

You do realise that protest, and violent mob action are not necessarily the same thing, and that citing the previous incidents, in which agent provocateurs were amongst the crowd (whose backers remain unidentified and may just as easily have been police under cover, or from right wing groups looking to start trouble), is certifiably stupid?

There is no mob violence here. Where are you getting mob violence from? The point is that the police officer is telling people to run PEACEFUL protesters over THEN he stereotypes the BLM movement by saying they are violent and thus the drivers of the car need to park away for reasons involving self-defense.

There is no valid self-defense claim to be made here after you JUST got done hitting someone with a damn moving vehicle. Why is that so hard for you to understand here?

I can't believe you are defending someone hitting someone else with a car...

Self defense is not unlawful. Mob violence is.

Protesting != mob violence! And stereotyping all BLM protesters as violence seekers doesn't justify your claims of self-defense. It just makes you ignorant, an asshole, and likely also racist.

If they never stop any vehicles unlawfully, then they have nothing to worry about that would cause people to fear for their lives.

Stopping a vehicle unlawfully doesn't give you the right to run them over with a car.

This is the first few sentences of the facebook post:

Run them over. Keep traffic flowing and don’t slow down for any of these idiots who try and block the street.

This implies there is ZERO threat to the driver of the car outside of the threat that they'll be slowed down from arriving at their destination. That isn't a valid excuse for "self-defense".

If you can prove you were in fear for your life, that is called self defense. Cornering someone causes fight or flight, no stopping nature.

I am impressed, you managed to call me ignorant, an asshole and pull out the race card all in one post. Better save some, don't blow your wad all at once.

People blocking the street doesn't create a threat to your life...

Well you are acting like a first rate one by stereotyping black people while defending someone who were to run other people over in a car because they were inconvenienced while driving.

PS: I know what self-defense is, but you are making a HUGE stretch as to what is self-defense is. It's not like BLM protesters are roving the country stopping traffic and shaking down the cars that end up getting held up on a regular basis... There is literally no basis for the threat to life to warrant an argument of self-defense. Well besides racist ones.

So when they stop people, what criteria do they use if they mess with someone or not? Which group is racist, the random victims picked out and stopped by the mob or the mob?

Well, that's great, but if you think that every protestor on a certain subject is a threat to you and your family, then you are overly fond of generalisations, and by your reckoning could kill any one you like, just because you feel threatened!

Utter, and total rubbish. Perhaps if you were a little less prone to fear, perhaps if there was a little more backbone floating about, you might not see a threat where there is none. I certainly see a threat in there being more people like the police officer, than there are BLM protestors. Again, the policeman is an authority figure, and it is ill advised to derail the thread away from discussion about his comments.

WHAT? Stop inventing parts of the narrative here. Where is it mentioned that BLM is picking out cars to harass? Heck, even the facebook post suggests that isn't the case since the first thing it says is to just run them over. It doesn't even suggest slowing down and seeing what they want first. The part about self defense is mentioned AFTER running the protesters over with a car. Being that after hitting someone with a car, out of self-defense, the driver should park up the street.

You are running with a crazy strawman that BLM protesters are somehow roving around American cities stopping traffic and then tearing the cars they approach apart. That isn't even close to true, because it hasn't happened.

BLM is PROTESTING. Protesting is a protected right within the First Amendment. Perhaps you've heard of it?

Just wow, these are the threads where you learn about who has no business owning a gun..and I guess car can be added to the list. People who are easily frightened should not own guns or drive.

Your message is be at the mercy of the mob.

That is the most spineless approach I can think of.

So every time a mob of people gathers in an area, we should run them over with cars?

Death to piggies....

Not your average peaceful group by any means.
