Three Americans reportedly kidnapped by militia members in Baghdad UPDATED

Three Americans have reportedly been kidnapped by militants in the Iraqi City of Baghdad.

According to Arab news channel Al Arabyi, well informed sources in Baghdad have confirmed that the kidnapping took place in the South of the City on Sunday.

The US State Department confirmed it was aware of the reports, and it was working with the authorities to locate and recover the Americans.

Hope these Americans are safe and that they are rescued soon.

It is only just breaking so not a lot of info but I should think they will be used for some political bargaining. I hope they come home safe and my thoughts and prayers go to their loved ones.

Apparently Reuters reporting three American soldiers and a translator.

Hard to speculate until we know who these people are that have done the kidnapping and who they have taken.. I would have thought that had they known they where a kidnap risk other than being a "American" they then would be rolling with a good amount of security or maybe they where just complacent and in the wrong place at the wrong time.

One U.S. official said the disappearance is being treated as "a possible kidnapping," but the official was not aware of any reports of anyone witnessing that.

Interesting, at best. Hoping for a good ending. .
