Hi just a light hearted thread.

So I bought 6 blurays today to add to my collection.
One of them (my guilty pleasure) was Top Gun. Now before any haters chime in, i am fully aware it is CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESEVILLE but I still love it regardless, and after 15 viewings or so, still love it.
I bought the bluray today and have never seen it in this format, but what really attracted me was the 2.5 hour documentary on the making of the movie. It was great! Only £6 ($10) and well worth the buy if you're a fan.

I also bought special bluray editions of;
Taxi driver
The Thing (prequal remake of the 82 one)
Fight Club
The good bad and the ugly
And Straight outta compton.

A few of my other (already owned) favourite blurays are;
The Thing 1982
Stand by me
The lost boys
Alien (all)
Jaws
One flew over the cuckoo's nest
Ferris Beullers day off
Shawshank Redemption
And a fair few more.

Judging by my taste, what blurays MUST I have in my collection, and how old am I?

I am actually making a bluray list, so all suggestions are welcome. And I know the age thing is childish, but fuggit, no harm in bored fundom 😆

Have at it movie buddies

I've seen the black and white original version of the Thing many years ago, it sucked pretty bad. And no, not 36

Freaking love Top Gun.

My guess at the age is 54 but that is really just a shot in the dark and the fist number that came to mind.

I like the way your mind works, but unlucky the age is not right. As for your clip, I remember 1st watching that and thinking it was the coolest thing. I believe the everly (or righteous?) brothers song was re-released and went to no.1 after the movie, much like their other one that was used in the movie Ghost.
Anyway regarding your clip, I hadn't started singing or playing guitar before this movie, and cannot help noticing how bad their voices were lol, and the tempo was way too fast. Hehe silly things we pick up on when we watch movies again from yesteryear

It's a trick, you're playing mind games with us making us think you're older for purchasing old films when in reality you're probably only in your early 20's

The films are all solid though and stand the test of time

52 and I don't know if they have it on BluRay, but the movie Champ with Ricky Schroeder is a tearjerker.

Using a mathematical algorithm and implementing the statistical analysis of varying age groups that correlate with the popularity of the films you listed, I have come to the conclusion that your age is...

Between 1 day old to 120 years old.

Tombstone - The best western ever made

Better Off Dead - Because I want my 2 Dollars!

Just one of the guys - we all wish we had her as our best friend in high school

Brewsters Millions - You actually think you have money when watching it!

Trading Places - Because Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd used to be funny!

Modern Problems - Because Chevy Chase used to be funny!

Goodfellas - "Hide this"

Got goodfellas on bluray, now Bettef off Dead should definitely be in my collection! Thanks for mentioning!
Tomb Stone is an amazing film too, almost got it today on bluray. Definitely one of the best 'mordern era' Westerns, along with Eastwoods Unforgiven and open range with Robett Duval. But I've still got to get once upon a time in the West, the wild bunch, a fist full of dollars, and a few dollars more, before I get the modern ones.
Trading places another of my all time favourites, haven't got it on BluRay though! Thanks, loved Brewsters Millions, also liked The Burbs from back in those days, and then of course... Weird Science!
