Nothing legitimises an Orwellian cluster bang like the one we live in here, like a constant barrage of fear porn.
What makes me sick, is that in the same nation which bred heroes that marched up beaches full of lead, shrapnel and death, the same nation which
sired fearless pilots, and commandos so outright dangerous that they were the envy of the world for a few generations at least, we have a population
which is even capable of being a bit concerned about the notion of being blown up, let alone terrified by it.
Every time these propaganda pieces succeed in making us less suspicious of our governments surveillance and intelligence gathering on us, the people,
it makes me ashamed at the number of people who urinate on the memory of those whose sacrifices allowed us to have freedom. Our ancestors deserve
better from the people of this nation, their memories need to be honoured not in martial pageantry, trotted out yearly like some ghastly heirloom, but
remembered every day, in the way we react to the possibility of being attacked.
There should not be a man, woman, or child in these isles who even accepts the traditional notion of fear. There should not be a man, woman, or child
in these isles who can have any other response to threat, other than:
Let them come, and may God have mercy upon them.
We must never cower behind the MP5s and hyper-surveillance culture of our police force, nor behind the men and women who currently wear the uniform
of our nations armed services. We must be steadfast, resolute, and utterly contemptuous of threat, even when things ARE exploding, not because it will
send a message, not because we are made of sterner stuff, but because it is what the best examples of our people did when the chips were REALLY down,
when war WAS on our doorstep, in an all encompassing fashion, and by comparison what is happening today is NOTHING!
And yet, we digest the headlines like morons, taking to heart every concerned talking head, every spittle covered right wing diatribe, every single
utterance of the leaders of our nation... Damnation with the lot of it, damn it all to hell. We are BRITISH, and we do NOT quake in fear, even when we
KNOW we are to die. We grin, spit in the face of Death, and dare it to take us.
To do anything else, to fear anything, or anyone to the degree I have seen from otherwise "patriotic" persons in our nation over the last couple of
decades, marks one out as being about as British as The Eiffel sodding Tower.
