If your party is forced into a convention fight because Trump is just not suitable and most of you know that deep down, how about drafting these guys.
Colin Powell:
Thomas Kean:
Jon Huntsman Jr:
George Pataki:
I know these guys are retired but someone can drag them outta bed and make em do work, I would suggest others but they would be too old by now, there are younger ones but I know little about them, it could even cause me to switch and would bring back some sanity to your side of the isle.

I don't take sides, but Colin Powell is not even worth considering. He knowingly lied us into the war with Iraq. # that guy.

I don't think Powell's wife would let him.
Smart man...and I've heard him speak...so, I'd like him to run, but Trump was never my top choice, anyway.

Yes but considering my options here, he sounds less cray than today's top runners and I didn't do Condi as she was as much responsible for the 911 muck-up as did Bush.

I believe you are confusing him with Bush. Powell only did what his commander-in-chief ordered.

Colin Powell would not run even back in the day when he was asked. He stated he was not a politician. He was a military leader.

Yeah...but he could have resigned with dignity instead of going in front of the UN detailing a plot that could have come from an old episode of the GI Joe cartoon from the 80's with the trains and other mobile biochem labs.

As for the race...the fun is just starting. On both sides. The conventions this year might be worth watching. Could be like watching adults devolve into spastic playground fight mentality.

Why would you want to drag them out of retirement when you have a dozen of young senators and governors that are better choices?

I get tired of old politicians getting pushed to the front because people have heard their name.
Just look at Jeb and Hillary.
neither of them would have been mentioned if it was not for their last name.
we need some new blood at the top.

True Harry Belafonte eviscerated him for not doing just that, Iam a lil biased in his favor simply because as general he came aboard my ship during my Gulf war ate with us , gave us a pep talk and shook hands with us.which would make me a sorry individual if that's all it took for me to be star struck..sigh!!

Colin Powell

Trump is high in the polls because the people are fed up with RINOs.

Why draft one of the worst RINOs?

Ok kool who would you put in place that is not cray, can apply commonsense and have appeal across the board, this was just my choice for looking at alternative picks.

I know that but he would be a disaster on so many levels if elected.

I won't argue with that.
Maybe the Republican Party needs to die to prove that they are out of touch with the people.
Then if enough Democrats could rise from their slumber, the other party could die too.

Neither party will let that happen though. They need each other...... Sorry, they are each other.

Why are we afraid of a 3rd party??

Republicans have at least 12 candidates better than the current president and Hillary/Biden/Sanders. It would be beneficial if there was only one clear better candidate that conservatives could focus on. The base is splintered over all the potential candidates.

That's exactly right. Trump's popularity is due to the dislike of career politicians and kowtowing to political correctness. He's a smart man, if it weren't for those two things, he wouldn't have even ran.

That's the million dollar question that not many Conservatives can answer. I've seen a few conservatives go to bat for Cruz and Carson. I just wish they would leave their religion at the door. There is no room for religion to be mixed with politics, especially as of late.

It is what we need.
Third parties need to fight both the R's and the D's. They have a whole bag of dirty tricks to keep third parties in check. Preventing them from getting on a ballot even at a local level is one of the most used.

Because MOST voters vote left or right by affiliation only. I've mentioned this before, but I think Jim Webb would have been a fantastic middle man. I couldn't see myself ever voting democratic, but that guy would have brought all the teetering voters his way, and I think he would have made a pretty damn good president. Unfortunately his pride for the military, his outlook on the threat of terrorism, and his ideology to earn what you get or want is what dropped him down below the hardcore lefty candidates. He was the last true hope of bringing us together and the dems pissed him away.
