The American Military has certainly deteriorated under President Obama! This is the only part of the article that I agree with, Cavtrooper, but it is certainly the most important as there is so much at stake for the country given the ever increasing strength of Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.

The last thing America needs today is a weakened military in a dangerous and uncertain world!

Yes, and.....???

So?

I am married to a vet who suffers from crippling PTSD, sometimes to the extreme.... I am as much his "case manager" as his wife. I believe sending our youngest and strongest out there is absolute lunacy, and I don't care how much they "want" to go. It's insane.

Don't really care if you agree with me or not, but you ought to look into the truth:

Try taking a look at Dirty Wars. If you're a good reader with a decent attention span and ability to read non-fiction, you could learn a lot (not that you don't already know it; just saying).

I would be happiest if our military was reduced in size sufficiently to simply defend our own perimeter. A military strong enough to envelope our borders and coasts, and staying the hell OUT of other countries' business.

We do NOT have to be the world's mom and dad and cop and posse. Screw that.

Just want to say, I'm seriously beginning to disrespect your war-mongering Zionist apologetics........

You certainly have a right to your opinions, and I can respect that what you say "is your opinion", but I can NOT respect WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.

Go ahead and dismiss me, ken, just remember, you can run us off, but that doesn't mean we agree or kowtow to your ideas.

No, the military has not withered away under Obama - The Mises Institute

Most of these stories are careful to only mention military spending on certain projects, and never military spending as a whole. They look at troop numbers and other measures that don’t reflect total military spending. And it’s not surprising that total military spending is never mentioned. Because, if it were, it would quickly become apparent that military spending is in fact near historic highs, and above the levels of spending that occurred under Ronald Reagan during his own Cold War buildup. So, if you are worried about military spending, you can rest easy. Nor is there any cause for alarm in the wake of the most recent budget deal approved by Republican leaders and Obama. There will be nothing but budget increases over the next two years:

That is all fine and good, but the bottom line is that actual dollars allocated notwithstanding, we now have significantly less bombers, less warships, less submarines, and a deteriorating nuclear triad resulting from lack of proper maintenance.

All of this while China is now nearly in possession of the ability to fire a nuclear missile from China itself that is capable of reaching all of our major industrial centers and cities, and Russia is continuing to add to its own nuclear arsenal.

Furthermore, even N. Korea is quickly becoming a real threat as is the ever more powerful Iran.

All of this was documented in detail on both CNN as well as on Fox in recent nationally broadcast televised newscasts.

Not asking you to agree to anything, Buz! And I don't have to apologize for anything concerning Israel as their accomplishments in medicine , prescription drugs, and intelligence cooperation speak for themselves. Nor am I a warmonger. Fact is, I hate war!!

I respect your right to voice your opinion and I'm not trying to suggest otherwise. After all, that is what America is all about!

c'mon cav.....really?....we are spending close to 700 billion dollars a year on the military. this is hardly the end of the "American warrior culture".....the top 8 countries in the world combined, don't spend as much as we do on the military....maybe if this part of the military spending was cut, if would help....
usatoday30.usatoday.com...

here's another site that shows the difference in retirement pay for non-com and officers...officers are making damn good money after serving 20 years, much more than any non-com makes...

Despite the dollars spent, there is no question our military has weakened relative to our major world adversaries, Russia and China, during Obama's presidency. But as I stated previously, I am not in accord with the balance of Cavtrooper's cited article.

I'm sure you watched the documentaries and, if not, they are often repeated. Please understand I'm not looking for either your approval or asking that you agree with my conclusions. I do my own research and form my own opinions. You are free to do the same.

You have made claims of fact on a website that values facts and documentation of claims. It's not a matter of opinion based on what show you watched on TV ... You made a specific claim and that claim is has been shown to be absurd on its face.

Are you really saying you're claiming that the American military is substandard based on a TV show you can't even direct us to???

Amazing.

And I don't have to apologize for anything concerning Israel

do you know what an "apologist" is?

It's a person who defends a sketchy idea...."Apologetics" is not "apologies." When you try to explain why they are so precious and special and super-duper, while pleading on behalf of them and "their right to exist" (because they are so "put-upon"?) .... it is transparent Zionism and Zionist Apologetics.

.. as their accomplishments in medicine , prescription drugs, and intelligence cooperation speak for themselves.

None of that has anything to do with their geographical coordinates, their heritage or ancestry, or their little patch of land. The individuals who accomplished those things could have done it from anywhere. Plenty of other humans in different countries are capable of the same, and have accomplished just as much.

Nor am I a warmonger. Fact is, I hate war!!

Then why do you insist that the USA needs to "beef up" the military even further, to where the USA MIC could decimate all the countries around Israel?

Why do you care where the Zionists plant their flag? What's it to you?????

Here's what: you're a Zionist.
I am not.

I don't care if Israel "exists", or where it "exists." Seems to me they should move to somewhere less hostile and difficult. I don't care where they exist. It's not my job or concern. I am an American, and owe NO allegiance to Israel. Sorry. You can try to shush me again if you like, but your polite dismissal does not change the fact that I disagree with you and with further support for Israel. If they are our "best friend and ally", they make a piss-poor one.

If my town or city or state was being attacked, I'd simply move. As it is, they are illegally occupying the homes and territory of those people who were there FIRST.

Sorry, Buz, but there is nothing superficial or sketchy about Israel. I'm truly sad and sorry about your husband by the way, and I really do wish you well despite our disagreement.
