4 out of 10 is what percentage? This thread is about the poll i posted but if you want to discuss that one, ok? There are no lies just simply facts that you cannot swallow.

What spin? There is no spin.
No? You turn this:

His very best voters are self-identified Republicans who nonetheless are registered as Democrats.
Into this:

Bottom line is Democrats do not seem to be happy with the direction of the party and we are seeing an alignment of voters that has not been seen since Mr Reagan came in with his no-nonsense approach and swept the election in 1980.

Perhaps if you had a poll which indicated how many registered Democrats are self-identified Republicans you would have something. Or not.

I love it...so, this poll is garbage but if you had another poll that would discredit or show the truth it would be ok?

There is NO spin. I am simply adding my narrative that this has not happened since Reagan. Which is true.

I was about to jump in and rip this thread to shreds, but it appears that work has already been taken care of.

Good job guys.

LOL Everyone else already pointed out how this article was referring to Republicans who are registered as Democrats. That puts it into the proper context.

But pointing out the "results" from 4 out of 10 people isn't a credible "poll". No one with even a shred of academic credibility would consider that a valid survey. I can literally "poll" more African Americans on my phone right now and get different results from that "poll".

Wrong my friend. It is Registered Democrats who would support a republican, and that GOP member is Donald Trump. Who is everyone else? Intorvert and company? Please....move on you losers...yeah, just like Mr Trump I am DONE with people such as you and the other who think you can 'type' something and it is how it is or tell me how to act.

I think most of you are used to someone who will run and hide at the first sign of opposition on this site or...maybe you are scared a GOP candidate who wins will have more issue with your avatar than the current POTUS.

I am a proud socialist.

I'm saying good job to the other members that came in and properly debunked yet another one of your delusional threads in which you expose yourself as a Trump fanboy.

It's hard to be full of myself when I give complete credit to those that came before me.

Someday you will learn to take your cheer leading a bit more seriously and at least understand what you are posting before you put it on a pedestal.

That is not what I said. I said that this poll does not demonstrate what you claim it does.

In order to show that a significant number of registered Democrats are sufficiently dissatisfied enough to turn into self-described Republicans you would need a poll of all registered Democrats, not of just those who are self-described Republicans. Show me that poll and I'll be happy to acknowledge your claim.

I am simply adding my narrative that this has not happened since Reagan. Which is true.
How do you know this?

You do not need a poll of ALL democrats. What the hell is this? If i ask 1000 Democrats how they feel I can get a good idea of the collective. Did you not take statistics in high school..( or college...I took it in High school). You can even take basic math if that is what you did to divide numbers.

As far as Reagan, because there has not been a situation where people were flooding away from the Dems to the GOP like it happened during the 1980 election. This is stuff again you should have learned in school....

Yes. I did. And I understand the concept of sampling as well.
You see, this was not a sample of registered Democrats. This was a sample of self-described Republicans who were registered as Democrats.

See the difference? The sample was of a subset of registered Democrats, those who describe themselves as Republicans. Not a sample of all registered Democrats.

I wonder if it has occurred to anyone that the reason they are registered Democrat but are self identifying themselves as Republican is because they looked back over the last 8 years and have decided to switch sides this upcoming election?

Perhaps they simply have not re-registered yet?

I mean I did not re-register as a Libertarian until I had to get my drivers license renewed.

No, it was a sampling of 'Registered' Democrats who 43% said they would vote for Trump. Sorry, you are not making a good case here. 57%, according to the sampling, said they would not.

Ah I must have missed something during the discourse then. Like I said I was "officially" a Republican at one time, but was in reality a Libertarian who simply had not reworked his paper work down at the DMV.
I mean even on the trip to the DMV I was officially a Republican up till the paper work was done.

Most of those polls ask you a couple of questions, like whats your zip code?, Are you registered to vote? How are you registered? etc. If someone is trying to be honest in those polls and have not yet officially changed their registration they will say something like,
"Well I am registered as such and such but I plan to vote for this guy and I have not yet re registered."
Then the pollster makes a note of it and off you go to answer the next question.

Nooo...

self-identified Republicans who nonetheless are registered as Democrats.
www.nytimes.com...

It is you who does not understand statistics and sampling.

The entire sample was of self-described Republicans. It only involved self-described Republicans. Some were registered Republicans (we don't know how many). Some were registered Democrats (we don't know how many). Some were unregistered (we don't know how many). Some were registered Independents (we don't know how many). But they were all self-described Republicans. No self-described Democrats were included so it was not a sample of all Democrats.

The poll does not address the overall number of Democrats who describe themselves as Republicans. So to claim that this poll indicates that Democrats, in general, are dissatisfied with their party is fallacious. You could be right, but this poll is not the poll to demonstrate that.

Bottom line is Democrats do not seem to be happy with the direction of the party and we are seeing an alignment of voters that has not been seen since Mr Reagan came in with his no-nonsense approach and swept the election in 1980.
No. You cannot make that claim logically based on this poll.

I am a self-identified Independant and a registered Libertarian. Certainly not "left."
I am impressed by none of Candidates of any party. If polled, that is what my answer would be.

I don't have a horse in this particular race as yet but when it gets closer to the wire I will have to make a choice.

You misinterpreted this poll like the last if you can consider it that. Noticed many have tried to point that out to you. How is anyone supposed to take you seriously if you try and slander other posters for trying to help?

I don't know any Democrats that like Trump.

My family is one. They are hardcore Dem's and have always hated the fact I haven't voted since 2000. They registered republican this year to be able to vote Trump in the primaries.

Forgive me if I call bull# on this one.
