The shooting happened outside of a Tel Aviv pub with witnesses saying a young man carrying an M16 carried out the attack , at this point he is still on the loose.
An eyewitness described the shooter as "light-skinned and not Eastern looking,"

Police are currently searching a wide portion of the city, from the corner of Dizengoff and Gordon to Rabin Square in the east and Ben Yehuda St. in the west. Police detained a suspect on Reines St., near the site of the shooting, after the shooter fled the scene of the attack, but are continuing to search the area.
Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai said that at this stage the municipality had "no special instructions" and asked the public to enable the security services to do their work.
"We're still at the beginning of the incident and I hope those responsible get caught," he said.

Latest reports suggest the police may have located the gunman.

Witnesses say at least 10 gunshots were heard at the scene, apparently from an assault rifle.

One witness who works at the pub targeted by the gunman said the killer first sat on a nearby bench and waited calmly until the bar filled with people, and then began shooting randomly.

In the past few minutes armed police have surrounded a nearby building and have sealed off the area as they move in on the suspect.

Residents have been warned to stay indoors.

CCTV Video of the moment the shooting started has emerged.

Second CCTV footage of the gunman as he starts his attack.

The second paragraph quoted makes it sound like this was a random shooting, not a gang or personal. Sorry to hear innocent people suffering like this, especially on New Year's.

I'm just waiting for someone to come along and say they were illegally occupying a Palestinian bar.

That was not an M 16 .
Or an AR 15 , but people think that those are the only types of weapons used for these kinds of attacks .
Looks more like a MAC 10
Not trying to take away from the tragic event,.

Security footage from an adjacent grocery store shows the gunman taking out a gun from a backpack...

Must have been a pretty big backpack to hold an M16.

www.haaretz.com...
"We ran into the alleys, he continued to shoot at us," he said. "Passersby had guns in the area refused to shoot him."

Maybe they were ordered not to shoot at the suspect.

www.haaretz.com...
Gali Morag, who lives on Gordon Street opposite the scene of the shooting, says she heard shots and, looking out the window, saw a young man dressed all in black and with a woolen cap running down the street. He turned a corner and disappeared from sight. Other people were running after him.

Why are these guys always dressed all in black? Why were the people running after him not able to keep him in sight?

www.israelnationalnews.com...
Contrary to initial reports, the gunman managed to flee the scene on foot...

Initial reports said they got the gunman? That means they probably got the gunman.

This is definitely starting to sound like a false-flag.

I know right, why would a waste of flesh criminal wear all black. If I was going to commit a crime I would wear the brightest clothes I have .

Missed the shooting by five minutes. Left the shopping center them wandered down Dizengoff heading north on foot. Bought falofal sat downto eat it opposit Steimetzky book store on a bench then passed Gordon crossing, five mins later a lady walked past going nuts screaming something on Hebrew looking mad, I just thought she was literally mentally ill but realize now she must have heard something on the news or something from someone up the street.the first sirens started. Misses in a shop me on wifi outside, when the emergency vehicles passing numbered in the double figures I just knew it was something going down. Man in shop been in earlier that day said did you come from up there, I said yes, he looked horrified and said many people shot up the road. Got back to hotel had tea and a rest. Went out half hour ago, police everywhere, looking for terrorist in streets as not got them yet so it says on the net. Very sad for the people here with the weekend just starting. Is it Islamic terror or Russian mafia hit, Israeli authorities and media not commenting on reason as yet

Well who knows, any things possible in this mad world. The authorities aren't saying much as they haven't caught them yet so the media says. My guess for what it's worth is this is revenge for probable Isreali assassination of Kuntor in Syria. Just my guess but Hezbolllah are going to hit back for that one, I just expected something more dramatic so maybe it's a hit or local Palestinians or something like

Haaretz saying authorities know the shooter, father has reported his son as stealing his security weapon and recognized him from media reports, suspect from Wadi Ara in Israel. Israeli Arab. Maybe just a lone wolf?

Could be one of those Jewish terrorists we've been hearing about in the news lately. Even the Israeli gov't acknowledges their existence and the danger they pose to their national security.

In the 3rd video you posted and man runs into the frame from the left, running past the gunman who starts shuffling backwards in pace with the man running past him. In the 2nd video from inside the bar I cant see the same man.

Am I blind or seeing things?

The police have identified an Israeli Arab resident of the northern town of Wadi Ara as the suspect. The suspect, 29, stole the gun from his father, who works in security. The father recognized the suspect from media reports, and after learning his weapon was gone, contacted the authorities.

They don't even have the suspect in custody, yet they already know who he is? Rush to judgement much?

www.haaretz.com...
A Koran was found in a bag left at the store. The police is looking into the possibility that this was part of a diversion.

A Koran? Gasp! That means muzzies! Case closed!

About 20 minutes after the attack, a man killed in a shooting on Yunitsman Street in northern Tel Aviv. It is as yet unclear whether the incidents are connected.

A coordinated attack? A wider conspiracy?

Maybe you are onto something there. Some hardcore Jewish groups dislike Tell Aviv and the way some of its bars stay open on Friday after sunset. Anything is possible

This reminds me of an earlier shooting in Tel Aviv on 8-1-09, when a man dressed all in black used a pistol to kill two and wound 15 more at a gay bar. The gunman got away in that one too.

That is definitely not an M16 the gunman is firing, and the backback is way too small to hold an M16 anyway. It appears to be some kind of machine pistol. So why are they saying it's an M16?

I don't get it, why are you stuck on criminals wearing all black? I mean I know that people who see a conspiracy in everything do but why does that jump out to you.

Black is tactical cover for night-time operations, saboteurs, covert assasinations in the shadows and the like. Terrorists wear black because they think it makes them look hard. Word.

There's no anti-metal conspiracy here, just a bunch of noob terrorists who copy their look from Seal Team 6, thinking they're going to screech into paradise looking cool as hell.

ETA - as you can see from my avatar, I like a splash of colour here & there. Nothing personal...
