Happy Birthday Lemmy , 70 today and still Rocking

The word Legend is often used but in the case of Ian Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister it's richly deserved , the one time Hendrix roadie , Hawkwind base player and front man of Motorhead turns 70 today and is still playing rock & roll with a new tour kicking off in January supporting their 22nd album Bad Magic.

Many , many happy returns to Lemmy.


There is only one Lemmy , there will only ever be one Lemmy , celebrate his greatness.

I'll raise my glass to a personal favourite of mine. I have every album, seen em live a few times (my first concert too!) and they consistently produce music I like. Best played loud over a few beers.

Funny story, from Lemmy's autobiography (White Line Fever) and I paraphrase slightly:

Standing in a pub (bar), minding his own business with other band members, someone smacks him over the head with the thick end of the pool cue, hard. It breaks. Lemmy puts his hand to his head, says "Owwww!", turns around and asks the guy with the broken thin part of the cue in his hand behind him "What the # was that for???"

The guy drops the cue and runs away....

True story.

It's a real shocker mate , a few days after his birthday and a month since Philthy Animal Taylor passed we now lose the Godfather of Metal , his like will not be seen again.

He will be missed but more importantly he will be remembered.

RiP Lemmy , love ya man.
