Twas two days before Christmas, and all through the land. Not a Christian was stirring, not even the lambs. The sweetheart trade deals were signed with a pen with care, in hopes not a person would even care. Of course most of the criticism of the TPP has been focused on American 'evil' corporations.Without so much as a thought to the foreign ones. According to this article the days of 'Made in X' is gone. A country snipped you off, and want to boycott? No so fast! In fact that could open you up to litigation.

Do you want to buy American? Forget about it. Under this deal, there can be no labeling to tell you a product is made in America. Do you want to boycott Brunei because of the way it treats Christians and because it is implementing Islamic law? Good luck finding labeling that tells you products were made in Brunei. Under the TPP, it is even arguable that citizen boycotts of the products of a certain nation could open the individuals up to litigation.

The Grinch who stole Christmas. Bah Humbug Brunei!

The article goes on to talk about how Brunei has went all medieval. Hell I wouldn't buy nothing there. Sharia Law people! Celebrating Christmas IS verboten! At least in public. Gotta keep that on the down low.

My beef is not so much with Brunei living in the dark ages. My beef is getting sued for boycotting a foreign state. Americans LOVE to do that, and now thanks to the TPP ?

Hate (Insert Country) ? Boycott and get sued!

So who did the TPP really benefit ?

I honestly think the deal was created to increase crap products being shipped in to this country.

Any hoo.

Merry Christmas Brunei! MERRY CHRISTMAS! Now come lock me up!

The sultan of Brunei has issued an edict that threatens Muslims with five years in prison if they celebrate Christmas. Christians are told that their celebrations must remain secret or they can be jailed as well.

I'm pretty sure that there have been several threads and posts on ATS describing all the potential bad things that can happen with the TPP including the ability for Corporations to sue the US for any laws that may interfere with profits or anyone in the US for "harm" to their brand, completely undermining the Constitution... I believe you said to the effect of we were just being mean and hating rich people.

You changed your mind because you have no way now of knowing if you're buying products from nations that do things you don't like? I guess you really don't see situations with clarity unless it involves something that you care about. Welcome to "our side" I guess? Don't get comfy, we like to hug, sometimes even trees.

Not sure why you care though that Brunei bans public displays of religions different from their national one, I thought you supported banning Islam in the US. Are you turning liberal and tolerant?

Yeah I am 'sure' people were talking about FOREIGN corporations in those threads.

To be honest Washington Times has more credibility than the usual suspects on here.

Don't worry Christmas is safe in America. It's not like Brunei last time I checked or anywhere near it.

Grow up

Think people both sides of the argument needs to realise not all corporations are bad and not all are good.

There are some very damageing corporations out there that do deserve to be looked into and ard full of unethical practices and run by some pretty sinister people.

On the other hand thats no reason to tar all corporations with the same brush.
