its like, you have a strong desire to know the ultimate truth behind reality. even though you were raised christain by a catholic family, and wantd to believe in god and jesus, but what if another truth came to you like say for example, one of the egyptian gods.

it is so hard to drop the idea of the bible when you have no other way of understanding your own existence, but if i pray and ask for jesus and god to assist me nothing happens... but instead i am comforted by and communicate with an entity that claims to be the egyptain god Isis.

how do you know whats real and why do you feel like its the truth?
how do i know if this entity is on my side or not?

Trading one mythical god for another is not going to solve your issue. They are just names and you've got your pick of hundreds in every description imaginable, all reflecting the cultures in which they were invented--by people. You don't really have the means to pick one over the other, and you ought to know by now that people "pick" the god they grow up with, the god of their parents, most often. Picking another one may seem exotic and different, but if you grew up in THAT culture, that same exotic god would seem mundane.

IMO you might benefit from questioning the very idea in the first place. Why do you think it takes a god to make your own existence meaningful?

Because i cant find anything better in existence to do than to serve god or a god, whatever the truth is. whatever they call the creator. and its like, if im not allowed to have a supernatural experience with the god of the bible and something else happens like voices come to me saying its the egyptian goddess isis, i loose faith in one thing and trade it for another.

who the hell am i if an egyptian god is going to talk to me in the place of what i thought was real? how do i know if i can trust the supernatural....

It is good to be open minded and look into all spiritual beliefs

As for Isis ... god and godess had a different meaning to how Christians think of God
The held a belief that there was A Creator
The Universe was the Creators mind
gods and goddess's represented Natural/Universal Laws and also Human quality's

Isis is associated with the star Sirius A

Truth is dynamic and ever changing and ever ascending in comprehension, this is why man has often gone insane searching for it.

I don't think you listened to a word I said. You just repeated yourself. That you feel a need to have a god to justify yourself is, to me, just baffling in the extreme. I won't go any further than that.

Why do you want to serve a God so much that you don't really care which god it is, as long as one of them actually turns out to be real? What if the true god has no interest in your subservience? I truly omnipotent being would have no need for service other than to fulfill some selfish need for attention.

In my experience the pursuit of the truth is a fairly fulfilling experience in itself, and you have to realize that religious people throw the word "truth" around to try to give more weight to their beliefs but the truth isn't something you can feel or decide. You might never find actual truth, but it's better than willful delusion.

In the words of Terry Prathett "The company of those who are seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred over the company of those who insist they've already found it."

I connect with the Source that I and everyone else emanates from and I receive guidance from "him", I also receive guidance from "her" who is also an emanation of the Source within us. What I see is the mind in-between the "he" and "she", the world and source.

If this entity is claiming to have a name, it is telling you a lie in my opinion because:

The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao
The name that can be named is not the eternal name
The nameless is the origin of Heaven and Earth
The named is the mother of myriad things.

Maybe all the Earthly Pantheons and religions are one the same, just different interpretations throughout the ages and regions? Maybe Isis = Mary, Jesus = Horus, etc? That's at least the conclusion I'm coming to recently. Good guys are good guys.

Have you considered believing in yourself, and serving yourself, as well as others?

You don't have to believe in deities to be spiritual.

If by 'communication' you mean you audible hear a entity that is claiming to be a god (any god), then I would suggest going to a psychologist, not religion.

If by "communication' you mean through events and instances where you were to ask 'show me you're the true god' and then some event occurs, then you're simply looking for answers in things that really aren't answering anything to begin with. I could make up anything while asking a question, and if I look hard enough I will see 'answers' in the places I look because I'm personally placing purpose/reason behind things that really show nothing at all. It's an implied reason/purpose from my mind only, only I can see it, because it comes from me, not a god.

You don't.

Reality isn't even verified by Scientists; conclusively, anyways. The only way you can really discover the 'truth' about 'reality' is to accept that we cannot possibly no anything with absolute knowledge. All we can do is gather the evidence around us and form our on conclusions, whilst also realizing that - at any moment - a new discovery could be made that shatters our previous conclusions.

This state of 'unsurety' is far from a scary thing. In religion, every single thing is stated to be 'absolute truth', infallible, and undeniable. This of course cannot be because every religion conflicts with the other (even within the denominations of the same religion). Not only that, but when something is actually discovered that disproves a religious notion - such as: a god is on a chariot and pulls the sun across the sky - then how can you possibly accept the validity of that religion anymore? In the end, you'd have to reject the evidence in reality and instead implement 'faith', which if viewed from this perspective, is one of the most perverse, destructive states of living.

Rationality, however, offers nothing as 'absolute truth'. Rather, it simply states "well, we have evidence for 'this' such incident, lets cross-reference this evidence with other evidence to try to more clearly understand the universe around us". Of course, this line of thinking isn't claimed to be "absolutely correct", but simply, 'our best answer until further development'.

Which one to you seems like a much more humble way of thinking? Claiming absolute truth, despite when it's verified to be incorrect. Or, drawing information from the universe around us and understanding that our methods of discovering this information are not 100% accurate, and subject to change and become more accurate once more information is found.

One Man's truth is another Man's lie. There is no real truth only perspective. Shades of grey and all that jazz.

I serve God.

Because of the times we live in, God doesn't respond like He used to to the prophets. In the end times, God is silent. People pray and pray looking for a sign and they get none. That's just the reality of the time we live in. But God is always with us. I have never heard the actual voice of God--but I have heard the Holy Spirit within me. I get all sorts of help from the Holy Spirit every day--whether it's an essay I have to write for school or a response I feel compelled to write to someone on the internet (like right now! ). The Holy Spirit has a comforting, kind, sensible, quiet voice that isn't a voice but is. It's impossible to explain unless you've heard it. To hear it, all you need to do is listen. Maybe ask God for help with listening.

I didn't need proof to know that God was real, though. I've always known that--it's obvious. I have seen proof that God is real--a number of times. God helps me when I ask. Always. Often, not in the way I'd expect. I rely on God. And He has never let me down. He has protected my life a number of times. If you're asking God for help just to see if something happens, that's why nothing happens lol You need to learn how to talk to God. And that requires opening your heart to Him. You probably don't even notice when God helps you. The Egyptian gods (actually ALL of the ancient gods) actually existed. They're fallen angels. They're not gods. God is everywhere. Because He made everything. If you can't see that God is real by looking at a blade of grass, then you're not using your eyes.

There is truth. Truth is easy to see because it's the only option that actually makes complete and utter sense. Truth doesn't confuse. It is comforting. That's how you know. Hope that helped.

Ask any animal if they love God. You'll see that they do in their eyes. Talk to any animal about God or Jesus and watch what happens. The animals know the truth. They're not blinded by their own ego.

When you trust in God, He takes care of literally everything. You have to do nothing. God just makes it happen. Nothing is too big for God to handle. God will provide for you just as he provides for all the creatures of the earth--but God loves you more than he loves any animal. If you ask, you receive--but God's answer isn't always yes. Just because you think that something is good for you doesn't mean that it really is, you know? God knows, though--because he made you and knows more about you than you know about you. So don't be angry when you don't get what you want--that means that God has something EVEN BETTER for you waiting.

I'm not sure if this particular website is the best one to be asking these sorts of questions. This may be suited more for a priest/spiritual adviser, face to face.

True story. But there's nothing wrong with asking for help here, either.

a reply to: rexsblues

Nope. Truth has never been hidden. It's right there. People don't want to see it. So they go looking for 'truth' elsewhere. And that's why they go crazy--they can't find it.

a reply to: Klassified

But that's what demons (and Satanists--the ones who like hedonism...not sure if that's Lavey(sp?) or that one other guy) do--so it actually is spiritual. Or rather, counter to the truth. All it is going to do is blind you to the truth. Your own truth isn't THE truth--it's just your personal delusion. Serving yourself is silly--you're nothing on your own. You're just DUST. How lame. Also, you're not perfect. So you're okay with serving your own stupid and evil desires? How pointless. It's not going to end well. You can do it if you want, but don't say I didn't warn you.

The truth is the truth, not a lie. You know one by the other. There are no half truths, greater truths or lesser truths. There is no ultimate truth. The truth of anything is the truth of it. Lies are found out and the truth exposed. Lies usually have a little truth mixed in to sell it.

Knowing the right thing to do in the moment is more important.

As far as religion, thats man made and filled with lies.

Out of all the years I've spent on ATS, this has got to be the most faith-based posts I have ever read.

To clarify, I view 'faith' as one of the most perverse and disgusting tools ever created by man. To further clarify, it's 'faith' itself I despise, not the individual whom has it. It's just very saddening to see the effect it has on people.

OP, you've been giving several responses now, stemming from a great number of positions. All that we can do for you is make suggestions, it is up to you to evaluate the world around you and come to your own conclusions.
