We see these threads all the time. Someone has figured out a loophole that can change your life. By typing your name in ALL CAPS, or writing "Not Redeemable in Fiat Specie" on your lease, or putting up a sign on your property that says: "Independent Republic," you can avoid all of your civic responsibilities. Yes, I'm talking about the Freeman Movement, but also related bad ideas. Remember the group that was filing a lawsuit on behalf of extraterrestrials to redeem all the money owed by the secret world government to the people of Earth? How about the De Jure Grand Jury that was charging admission to its proceedings against the President?

Some of these threads are sincere, some are obviously scams, but they have one thing in common: if someone is naïve enough to act on their advice, there could be serious real world consequences. These are not necessarily hoaxes, and putting them in the Gray Area or Skunk Works does not make a strong enough statement. Closing them is counter productive. Members need to see them debunked.

Any thoughts?

From your title, I thought you wanted a forum that specifically gave out dangerous advice.

That would be cool, but globalresearch.ca is already filling that niche.

You can include all the 'free energy' scams as well so gullible people do not get duped into sending in money.

If they want to piss away their cash I can give them my address so they can contribute to my single malt fund.

Perhaps the mods could add a heading with the words "Following any advice in this thread could lead to legal problems, you may also be called stupid in the local papers".
They could put it in caps and all red letters or something.

If people are stupid enough to be suckered in, then serve them right.

You are just trying to deny people the benefit of the sound legal and financial advise available on-line.

I am personally now debt free and immune from prosecution just by adding a random comma to my name, I am also the proud owner of several bridges and are awaiting a healthy deposit in my bank account from a very friendly Nigerian prince.

I must confess I was slightly disappointed my mail order bride cam ewith a puncture repair kit but I am sure that was just a misunderstanding.

I am now off to email my log-in and password back to my bank as some glitch in there system means they have lost them.

A large number of people who get scammed are the most vulnerable. The elderly, those with mental health issues and people who have suffered bereavement are often targeted.

That said there are also a lot of greedy parasites who just want to believe in get rich quick schemes, or that they are special and above the laws that govern the rest of us.

Slightly more seriously, I read the thread on "Natural Law" that I assume has inspired this one and I couldn't agree with you more.

It's not a question of being stupid, it's a question of being vulnerable to the pitch. If a true con artist had time to study you, s/he could devise a scheme that you would fall for.

Thank you for addressing that. You are correct. I have some very intelligent clients who have been scammed. These are business savvy people. We are all vulnerable in some area.

You're welcome. ATS is a magnet for certain types of people with very predictable vulnerabilities, which is why I think such a forum would be a good idea. It would give the more "worldly" members to educate others by exposing the woo for what it is.
