I bet there is a right wing movement in Islam, just like there is a Christian right wing, Hindu right wing, Buddhist right wing(Myanmar), etc. And the right wings are not really known for their tolerance and compassion. I beleive the everyday muslims are not really supportive of the extreme forms of Sharia, but rather the crazy minority.
